Iranian foreign minister shakes hands with senior U.S. official... but dodges Hillary Clinton

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to speak with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki twice on Friday, pursuing him both inside and outside the gala dinner here at the Ritz Carlton in Manama. But Mottaki deliberately avoided contact with her both times.

"If he comes to the dinner, I'll probably see him. But he doesn't talk to me," Clinton told The Cable in our exclusive interview just hours before the event.

Turns out she was right. Everybody at the opening dinner for the 2010 IISS Manama Security Dialogue, where Clinton gave the speech, was watching to see if she and Mottaki would trade words. After all, they were seated only five seats apart. Clinton went out on a limb twice to try to make it happen, but the end result was only an unintelligible mutter from the Iranian leader in the general direction of the secretary.

Clinton's first attempt came just as the dinner ended. All the leaders sitting at the head table were shaking each other's hands. Mottaki was shaking hands with Jordan's King Abdullah II when Clinton called out to him.

"As I was leaving and they were telling me, ‘Hurry up, you have to get to the plane,' I got up to leave and he was sitting several seats down from me and he was shaking people's hands, and he saw me and he stopped and began to turn away," Clinton told reporters on the plane ride home.

"And I said, ‘Hello, minister!' And he just turned away," said Clinton, adding that Mottaki seemed to mutter something in Farsi but was clearly trying to avoid her.

yep...there was a reason why the Hildebeest spent the last 2 years hosting Tupperware parties in The Congo...

The interesting question that arises is: Who will be the next SecState??

At one point I would have guessed Richard Holbrook but the Regime does not dare remove him from Afghanistan or the entire diplomatic effort, such as it is, would collapse completely.

??

Muslims have no respect for women. He probably does not think she has a right to even be seated at the same table with the men.

To him, she is simply Bill's possession. Nothing more. Maybe this very personal incident will make a crack in the PC mindset.

That is what I was thinking. Abu doesn’t want to shake hands with Dhimmi who is also a woman. Why would the Sec of State of the most powerful nation in the world chase after the foreign minister of an outlaw terrorist state? its nuts. Oh yeh and embarrassing.

BTTT.

This whole administration of the Kenyan Clown's is the silliest, most lightweight circus that I have ever seen; they even make the North Koreans look professional in comparison.

I’ve never been so proud of an Iranian mini-fascist in my life.

I understand, little buddy. I’ve spent decades avoiding that harridan, and wish you good luck. Keep your head up, and keep ducking. If she gets ahold of you, you’ll hate every minute of it.

Manouchehr, I also want to thank you for keeping her busy, so she doesn’t show up in my local pizza parlor, begging for donations. She’s done that before, and scared me right out of the place.

Why would anyone give her any respect, except to get a nice fat check from the US.

She’s a joke, with absolutely no diplomatic experience or leadership ability. Why would any world leader or experienced diplomat even give her the time of day. The people who have spent years working in diplomacy must cringe when she walks in and plays the big shot. They must be saying to themselves “What has this c*nt done to earn the top position.. I gotta sit here and listen to this cow blithering, reading the notes her underlings wrote for her.”
