Liam Neeson has caused controversy by suggesting that Aslan, the Christlike character in C.S. Lewiss Narnia books, could represent the prophet Mohammed or Buddha.
The actor who voices the lion in the film adaptations of the books has angered some fans of the stories, who claim he is distorting Lewiss intentions to be politically correct.
Aslan the lion features in all seven Narnia books, guiding children away from evil and harm and encouraging them to do good.
Lewis was clear that the Aslan was based on Christ, and once wrote of the character: He is an invention giving an imaginary answer to the question: What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia?.

Now, it’s been years since I read the book, and I haven’t seen the movie, but I don’t remember any suicide bombers in the The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I like Neesons acting but don’t plan to seek him out for theology lessons.
LOL! Yeah, I can see where this would occasion some comments that might be a little pungent. I’m just going to sigh and have another cup of coffee, myself.
Funny, I didn’t think Mohammed rose from the grave!
He’s dead, Jim.
This ice witch is more like Mohammed than Aslan.
There needs to be a Big Sign on the Religious forum here in Free Republic that says ‘We are Prudes and can’t handle purposefully misspelled foul language on the Internet.’ I didn’t even spell the words right and ‘asterixed’ a vowel and substituted ‘ph’ for ‘f’ and ‘zz’ for ‘ss’ and a moderator took this earlier thread down instead of just deleting my comment. Sheesh.
Yeah, they can do whatever they want, it’s their site, I guess, but I think they’ve carried that a little too far. Not my site, though. Do what you will. I’m free to think of that what I want, though and lately I haven’t been around much because of stuff like this.
Should I donate? Well?
This was taken SO FAE out of context, if I hadn’t read the article, Neeson would have been wiped off my “can still watch” list...which grows shorter by the day. For shame!
There have been many FReepers for whom using foul language was so important that they chose to frequent other sites. Whatever floats your boat.
Just so stupid on his part. Typical of the “many paths to heaven” nonsense.
I agree and I thought that the prudish pruning of comments on that thread was really very ... over the top. It is a religious topic, but not a pious topic. A few exclamations were in order, I thought. But maybe I am at fault because I posted it and was responding.
I’ll go ahead and re-post my comment in a format that I hope will be acceptable...
“Who Cares What Nesson thinks. He was ‘crucified’ by Darth Maul, anyway.”
The Lion (lying) = President Obama
The Witch & The Wardrobe can go to the Michelle Obama with a dishonorable Wardrobe mention of John Kerry's bike riding attire.
I watch Liam for his acting abilities, not his "thinking abilities".
I agree, lol
Aslan’s character is much more like Christ!
And Liam, voicing Aslan, should (keyword:should) have know better. It’s a film that many Christians want to see successful.
I will be surprised if there wasn’t a backlash from this.
Are you saying that gutter language should be the "norm"?
Well, I’m not the boss, but I don’t think I’ve seriously violated any ‘norm’ here either. Do what you want. Chase committed Conservatives away. I always liked this site in the past, I have a great history here. Marginalize the site into a small prudish ‘cult’ if you will. That’s your choice, not mine. I don’t really care. This is the Internet, remember? I can move on down the road. Breitbart’s site wouldn’t have done this.
