Nigel Smart, professor of cryptology at Bristol University, said even powerful military computers would be unable to crack the encryption. He said: “This isn’t something that can be broken with a modern computer. You need the key to open it.” What a load of crap. Trust me on this. The NSA has this cracked already. It is a total bluff.

As an ex-crypto guy, I agree with you 100%. This Assange twit is just that and a very useful tool to top it off. What are more useful is those who peddle this crap by doing nothing about it. Zero and Holder rings the biggest bell.

If I know my crypto well, and the key is, let’s say, 100 million bits long, there’s not enough computing power in all the atoms in the galaxy turned to transistors to break the encryption, short of a bug on the encryption scheme or sheer luck.

That said, I don’t think the NSA could have cracked it because I believe there is nothing to crack. It’s easier to keep the mathies guessing if what’s there is just a lot of thermal noise readings. After all, if he’s dead it makes no difference. And if he’s alive, and the bundle is really bad, he’s not going to stay that way for long.
