In governor's meeting, Haley asks Obama to scrap health law

South Carolina Republican Gov.-elect Nikki Haley challenged President Barack Obama over his landmark health care overhaul Thursday in a candid, personal exchange in front of Cabinet members and newly elected governors from across the country.

In an exchange that White House aides didn't dispute, Obama rejected Haley's request to repeal the health care bill...

"I said the people of South Carolina and the small businesses of South Carolina cannot afford the mandated health care law they had passed," Haley said after the meeting. "I told him that our economy is already in a tough spot, and our budget cannot sustain the mandate."

With only four Democratic incoming governors joining 18 Republicans and one independent, Obama acknowledged that the Nov. 2 elections hadn't gone as he'd hoped.

From the same meeting..

COLUMBIA, S.C. Gov.-elect Nikki Haley says she told President Barack Obama that South Carolina wants its money back if the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage site isn’t opening.

Haley said she told Obama that the federal government has reneged on its promise, and South Carolina wants a refund.

The Nevada site was proposed to house more than 4,000 metric tons of high-level nuclear waste from South Carolina’s Savannah River Site. The state and Washington have sued over Obama’s attempt to kill plans for the storage site after decades of study.

South Carolina’s power plants and its customers have contributed more than $1 billion to a permanent repository over nearly 30 years.

She says Obama pledged that he would have Energy secretary Steven Chu call her promptly.

I supported Haley from day one. Proud of my fellow South Carolinians!

Said Emperor Obamahito:

“The election situation has developed not necessarily to the Democrat party's advantage.”

"With only four Democratic incoming governors joining 18 Republicans and one independent, Obama acknowledged that the Nov. 2 elections hadn't gone as he'd hoped."

When announcing Japan’s surrender in 1945, Emperor Hirohito famously explained his decision as follows: “The war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan’s advantage.”

My post was mocking Obama. It had nothing to do with advantage for either Party.

The only hope I have is that this new “bench” is going to force the “Country Club/RINO/Bluebooods” that inhabit the Republican “leadership” to do what the voters have commanded. The Hatches, McLames, Cornyns and Grahamnestys, et.al., need to know that unless they heed the messages being brought to them via the “bench,” that they are gone at next possible electoral opportunity.

Sorry about that. I did not mean you were looking for advantage.
Obama, along with most politicians of both parties, look only for advantage for the party. We need Statesmen who put the REPUBLIC first.

Gov.-elect Nikki Haley says she told President Barack Obama that South Carolina wants its money back if the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage site isn’t opening.

INDEED! SC is currently storing nuclear waste in surface storage from all over the country and the world put there by US Govt. treaties and agreements. All with the promise that it would be moved underground as soon as Yucca Mountain was finished. Every rate payer in this country has contributed to Yucca Mountain -- billions of $$$. It is unconsionable that this project should be halted by Harry Reid.

US Rep. Joe Wilson, (R) SC who blurted out “You lie!” last year during Obama’s State of the Union speech when (you guessed it) Obama was lying to the people. I believe this is the same speech where Sam Alito mouthed the same words (or close to it) when Obama was taking the SCOTUS to task over a decision. (Unprecedented in the history of the SCOTUS in a SOTU speech.)
