He made fun of CNN calling him a noob in response to someone questioning why some posters - as CNN did, claim signup dates are important.

Nice try ... but CNN called somebody else a noob, not me. And he (lazily, mindlessly) dismissed the person because of that.

Well, fair's fair, right? I mean, if sign-up dates are more important than the actual contents of a post, then you guys' comments aren't worth a damn, either.

Of course, if one prefers to judge a comment based on its contents ... well, that would be "civil discussion," which is increasingly anathema to a broad class of FReepers.
