The second most violent city in America just approved plans to layoff half its police force, according to NBC New York.
Camden, N.J. will fire one in four city workers on Jan. 18, including half of police.
This comes just days after Newark, N.J. fired 167 police officers, which marked the biggest force reduction in 32 years.
Camden was named the second most violent city based FBI crime data that came out last week. Newark was named the 23 most violent city in America.

Well, I think Camden is too cold for monkeys and hyenas.
The decay of once prosperous cities is disturbing. America looks increasingly like the third world. Most of the big industries that made this country great are gone. For instance, RCA Victor (remember them?) manufactured records, radios and televisions in Camden.

They are hyenas and baboons. As others have said, not a Photoshop, but not Camden.
I felt bad for Camden, so I thought I'd put a picture of a city that's even worse. Had to get one of Lagos Nigeria to do it though.

Don't forget Campells Soups used to have a factory in Camden. My father and grandfather were carpenters on a expansion building project in the 1950s.

Plam trees don’t grow too well outdoors in New Jersey either.

Yep.
You can only mug the same people so many times.

I suspect the picture was taken somewhere in Africa and NOT in Camden, NJ, but HOW can we be sure? The literacy rate in Africa is higher than in inner-city America, and law-abiding Africans are allowed to be armed.
Oh, and African dictators have to be natural born citizens of their respective countries.

Is there such a thing a "too vibrant" a city?
This place looks worse than Mogadishu.

On the top of this thread, the third photo down shows whats left of one of those little corner stores. Half a sub,50 cents, large bottle of RC Cola,15 cents, small bag of Herrs chips,10 cents, two comic books 24 cents. All that for less than a dollar. The last time I was in Camden was about 1984. It looked like a war zone then.

How New Jersey Legislature can fix +/-90% of their problems with inner-city violence: Even better: abolish welfare totally. Let the underclass move elsewhere or stop being underclass.

RCA too. I won’t even go across the river that way anymore. Concert halls, the aquarium, forget it.

Nope. Haven’t been there in ahwile...if I do, it’s the Commodore Barry...I’d rather take my chances in Chester than Camden...and that’s not saying much..

Oakland, Calif is #1, IIRC.
They have voted there to have large Pot Clubs—with a minimum permit annually of $220,000.

Thank you for the lessons.
I guess I’d still like to envision police officers holding themselves up to higher standards. Obviously, Camden cops were not doing that.
I’m from NC, but I lived in Camden, Patterson & Newark as a youngster (Dad traveled to where the jobs were). Didn’t like NJ much then...but loved Wildwood/Cape May later in life.
