...will be one of Scotts champions for achievement". Is that anything like being one of the 'thousand points of light'?

Rhee is only "controversial" with the NEA teacher's unions, which continue to tar her wherever she turns.
To parents, communities and people who sincerely wish schools systems to be uplifted and competent, Rhee is not controversial, but effective.

Ya, I thought it odd that the liberal media is calling her “controversial”. She actually was making a dent in the enormous problems in the failing schools of Washington, DC, when she was fired there.

A step in the right direction.

Well, the libs ran her out of DC. Good enough for me. Hopefully she can turn this state’s educational system around. Fortunately for her, she will get far more support here than she ever got in DC.
I am not surprised the Palm Beach rag is upset. That is a good gauge, if they are upset, I know I will the opposite.

She likes to get rid of incompetent teachers and administrators that's why the unions hate her!

“Controversial” only to NEA and FEA hacks.

Rhee, who made national headlines for firing teachers because of student performance and favoring merit pay... Ummm, those are GOOD things... Scott's on the right track.

She’s an old-fashioned Democrat but I wish a lot more Republicans would focus on educational policy the way she has.

I’ve been wondering what ever happened with her intended marriage to Kevin Johnson? Last we heard, Obama was firing the whistle blower, who had accused Johnson of embezzling Americorps funds.

Great point.

She was demonized as part of the Vincent Gray campaign for mayor. She had several problems: She wasn’t impressed by the DC Teachers Union, she made serious structural changes (for the better) in the school administration, she consolidated and closed under utilized schools, and she was not black.
Fenty didn’t care about black, white, whatever. He wanted results. Gray cares. The white police chief is next to go, and she is really, really good. She will somehow be made to look bad before she’s forced out, but she has upgraded the police force noticeably. Ramsey did the first round, and she improved on that.

She’s only controversial with the teacher’s unions and liberals. But, then again, I repeat myself!
