We have massive military assets in the region (Iraq, Qatar, Afghanistan, etc.).
Have we NO planes that could be rigged to drop fire retardants?
Have we NO helicopters that could haul water to drop on the fire (using a huge bucket slung underneath, as is done in fires in Southern California)?
Have we NO helicopters to be used for evacuations, etc?
What would Reagan, Bush, and even Clinton, be doing by now?
It certainly appears that more US aid could be mobilized from
the nearby US forces.
