The House of Representatives, by a vote of 264-157, today passed the child nutrition bill, which was praised by first lady Michelle Obama as "a groundbreaking piece of bipartisan legislation." The $4.5 billion child nutrition bill would ban greasy food and sugary soft drinks from schools. The legislation – already passed on a bipartisan vote in the Senate -- triggered criticism for its hefty price tag and new nutritional requirements that some say shouldn't come from the federal government.

They won’t eat it. ‘Rich’ kids won’t buy it. Food program kids will wait for their moms to buy candy bars after school with their food stamps. Oh my gosh, did I really just write that??

So our kids are fat. It is no coincidence that they don’t exercise as much due to schools taking away or reducing recess and gym and the MSM pancaking parents over bugs and potential predators.

This should go under the statutes on ‘destroying gov’t property’. Since they own our bodies with Obamacare, they want to make sure we don’t put any food into them that they think might damage their property. A simple ‘property rights’ issue - why would ‘free traders’ have a problem with that??? lol .

Wow that is B for billions for the food police .Also how long has this "greasy" food been in schools? Just say no? Well what will be the unintended consequences for this one? Cradle to grave is what this is about.

They could ban greasy food and sugary drinks at public schools without spending $4.5 Billion. Whats the money for?

And the federal government should not be controlling public schools either.

More welfare for the masses. When will the wild spending stop or at least slow down? Why aren’t parents responsible for feeding their kids? My kids are in their 20’s now and never received a free lunch (Catholic schools which I paid tuition for out of after tax — paying local school taxes too— dollars).

Where I live they already have ‘healthy food’ for school lunches. I would buy the lunch every-so-often because they loved getting their lunch from school, but after some experience both kids gave it up. Now they make a face every time the order form comes home. The complaints consisted of ‘soggy’, ‘doesn’t taste good’, ‘hair in it’, ‘chicken feather on it’... yum.

Just take the money that you spend on bad food and buy healthy food.

What are they spending 4 billion dollars on, awareness ?
