And yet, they were wrong. Those with intellect and honor admitted its not a missile. The kooks however, are still hawking the missile theory without a single shred of evidence.

I read the facts, never saw a single one from the missile crowd, no data, nada, zip, ningun...

"video my aching azz...!!! RADAR RADAR RADAR show me the damn RADAR tracks of the west coast"

~~~~~~~~~~
OK, you asked for it! Here is a section of the FlightAware RADAR track for UPS 902 MD-11 eastbound from Hawaii into Ontario CA, plotted using Google Earth from the 10th floor Long Beach location of Rick Warren, who took the series of ten digital still frames. I highlighted the photographed positions of the A/C, and indicated where images from the video match them exactly. And the video and still photos A/C positions overlay the recorded RADAR track of UPS902 exactly. (BTW, I worked from the FlightAware data and Warren's RAW digital image data, which includes lens focal length for each shot (for magnification compensation).
FlightAware RADAR track log for UPS flight 902 on 08 NOV 10:
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS902/history/20101108/2055Z/PHNL/KONT/tracklog
What else can I do to make your day?
Rokke, I want to publicly thank you for your service to us and our nation! Not many of us (on either side of this discussion) have spent time aloft in a F-16 cockpit defending our nation...
A big ol' USAF salute to you from me and my family!
The shadow patterns show that it was headed out."
Once again, you depend on tunnel vision speculation based on an at-best-ambiguous artifact from the 14-second video.
If you are a REAL "surveyor", look at the contrail in # 143 as it drifts southward -- and figure out the error in your statement for yourself. The evidence that contradicts your "shadowy" assessment of the direction of travel is right before your eyes!
Da*n, it is getting tiresome re-explaining this high school geometry and physics stuff to these lazy, knuckleheaded tinfoilers! </RANT>
"I’ve yet to see a contrail that was the color of potassium permanganate."
Then you've never seen an underexposed video of a contrail illuminated by the transition from "sunset red to violet" -- just above the shadow line--in the illumination from the long-set sun.
Again -- you're looking at a schlock video instead of the actual conditions at the time. Or you are seeing only what your paranoia wants you to see...
i meant military... after all, it is the U.S. Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command speculating on what it is... don't they have their own tracks???
Your assertion is ridiculous. Those 2 videos are nothing alike.
The plume on the first is 5 times as wide as the 2nd.
I love watching contrails of airplanes, especially late in the afternoon. I like to count how many I can see right about sunset on a clear night.
The original video was not airplane. Period. I knew that after watching it one time.
Chinese? North Korean? Iranian????? (Yeah, they’re not supposed to have that capability) Russian? American? I don’t know whose it was, but that was not airplane. That was a missle.
"Nice try though, try reading the older threads where all the facts were presented, and the contrail madness was demolished numerous times."
Never happened. There has never been a single fact published providing solid evidence that this was a missile. (Opinions-- even of generals -- are not facts.)
As a Skywarn-trained Ham T-spotter, my first reaction to that WC shot was to start digging a hole!
I once saw a smaller one -- from directly underneath -- while waiting in the dinner line with 300+ other archeologists (and families) on a dig. The camp boss and I had a brief discussion as to whether to pile everyone into the deep trash pit we had bulldozed out for our camp cooks -- or to take our chances in the nearby abandoned brick schoolhouse. Fortunately, it moved on for several miles before dropping a tornado to the ground...
That photo makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck!! Yikes!!!!
Editor. I don’t know that we can determine whose missle it was. It was a quick video shot from a moving vehicle.
A couple of things to note here.
A. Of all the contrails I have seen, I have never seen one out at a distance where the plane was moving away from me, but the contrail appeared to be below the plane. At a low angle on the horizon, contrails from aircraft moving away ALWAYS appear to be above and behind the plane. Remember, we are always viewing contrail of airplanes from the underside. In order for the contrail to appear BELOW the plane as the plane was moving away from you, you would have to be ABOVE the plane.
B. Common Sense. The contrail was being lit from the other side of the camera. The only way to get that contrail between the camera and the sun would be to get the camera up to 40,000-50,000 feet and film it. The sun was well below the missle, from the perspective of the cameraman.
Now, caveats.
That is a video that we have no idea as to how it was produced. In this day and age, when digital technology can make me appear to be eating lunch with John F Kennedy, you have to really, REALLY trust the source of the video.
IF the video is what is purported to be, and is not a hoax, it is a missle.
No, it is the wackos here on FR and elsewhere who are "speculating". Those of us who understand physcs, geometry, and the dynamics of post-sunset sunlight -- and who look at ALL the available data know it was a contrail -- and exactly which MD-11 made it.
What would military radar logs tell you -- and what business would you have, getting access to them?
Fortunately, even though we don't have access to military logs, there is enough available on the internet now (including tools like Google Earth) to make such an analysis a simple matter of doing the work.
I's a plane, Jim...
"The original video was not airplane. Period. I knew that after watching it one time."
What amazing talent!!! From watching fourteen (14) seconds consisting of three short clips, including uncalibrated zooms -- scrambled and looped out of temporal sequence to add up to 40 seconds... ONCE -- you did all that?
Fandabtastic!!!
Bet it doesn't take you long to hand-inspect a red-hot horseshoe, either... '-)
Here’s something funny...we blame China while they do they same to us. I remember when they had those UFOs over their airports this summer, they were blaming us, saying we were messing with them with our advanced area 51 tech...hehe..
Did you read this FR thread about the video?
Finny, my FRiend,
IIRC, you said that your "expert" acquaintance has expertise in both perspective and lighting.
Please have him explain to you how it is that an object headed northwest can produce a trail that is growing towards the upper left when viewed from the north. (Show him the CargoLaw webcam shots from LAX.)
Even better, have him show you how perspective explains the phenomenon of that same "plume" "tilting" ever more to the left (pivoting counterclockwise on its vanishing point) as it drifts farther to the south of the viewing point (as in my #143 on this thread).
~~~~~~~~~

(My prediction is that you will never respond to this -- except, possibly, with a sneer...)
