I'm by no means a fan of Newt Gingrich, but as a practical matter he is absolutely correct -- and even more correct if one accepts numbers closer to 20+ million illegals.

Let's just accept that there will be obvious difficulties with rounding up a bunch of folks who don't want to be found.

More importantly, the legal backlog created by the need for due process (drat that Constitution of ours!) would be utterly unsupportable -- and you can be sure that the lawyers defending those who come up before such courts will stretch it out to the maximum possible extent.

It's just not likely to happen. Sorry, folks -- that's just the way it is.

Now, if a way could be found to ensure that only those here legally can get work ... well, that might work, and those who can't work might well leave on their own. But of course there are practicalities involved there, as well, and trade-offs would undoubtedly be made in order for Congress to pass any such program.

And then, of course, the border-bots will be most unhappy, and instead of taking a half-loaf this time, they'll simply starve for another several years.

Your own word 'border-bots' portray your 'open society' kinship... we are not talking about half loaves we are talking about bread crumbs dribbled out to us from and by the elitist that use these people as cheap labor, might call it the secret slave trade behind country club estates, and the destroyers of America.

Mass deportations?? No way. Never happen. But we can get rid of them through attrition and slam shut the border with a wall and start controlling seriously who comes in.

There was a show on TV several weeks back showing kids who were brought here when they were 1-2 years old. They are totally Americanized and feel America is their country and not Mexico. One guy graduated from HS and is going to go to college and he speaks impecable English, clean cut and is not a gang banger...but he has no SS number. His parents own a home here and are upstanding citizens.

No way would our gov't send this kid back or his family. Never happen. I'm being realistic here.

As other have said, control the border, punish employers who hire them harshly and start cutting off benefits and the problem will control itself. That being said our country is not going to be rid of Mexicans by a long shot.

Everyone needs to read Anthony Bourdains book "Kitchen Confidential". 90% of the cooks and dishwashers in restraunts in NYC are illegals...and he said a white guy would never do those jobs. The ones that do get hired last 2 days and quit.

It could happen, can happen, and maybe will happen.

You can’t see the future.

Illegals need to get the hell back to where they came from, and as crap hits the fan more and more, they will either leave voluntarily (no more welfare) or people legally here and regular citizens will get sick and tired of the crime and filth and get rid of them. Meaning politicians will have to start acting as they should and not as servants of globalist crap ideas and behind the scenes elites.
