Your WRONG... Eliminating federal government programs IS the way to go.. Not all at once but less and less each year and budget.. The States can take up the slack.. as they should have been State programs in the 1st place.. IF they were to be programs at all.. The federal government should be in chapter eleven.. to coin a term.. ALL federal government Unions should be disbanded and outlawed.. and federal employee guidelines revamped..
Most federal government functions should be ceded to the States.. not all but most.. In "chapter eleven" federal government creditors should be payed on a new schedule..
Each State can handle its own problems, that they have created themselves.. OR go bankrupt.. no handouts..
No, I think that would be “you're wrong.” Anyway, the discretionary portion of the budget outside of defense accounts for less than 10% of spending. You could eliminate that completely tomorrow and the federal deficit would still account for 30% of federal spending and nearly 10% of GDP. Finding further cuts may seem simple to you, but believe me no political consensus exists for what you propose. This may come as a shock to you, but no great political consensus exists for throwing old ladies in skilled nursing facilities out in the street or functionally eliminating social security. These things may make economic sense in some way but they are completely impossible goals politically. We need to live in the real world or appear to be the wing nut lunatic fringe that the “elites” and “Ruling Class” say that we are. Either get real or forever by marginalized.
