A man believed to be connected to the slaying of veteran Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen fatally shot himself at a Hollywood hotel Wednesday evening as Beverly Hills police were serving a search warrant there, sources told The Times.
The name of the man was not released, and his exact connection to the Chasen murder case was not immediately known. The shooting occurred after 6 p.m., according to two law enforcement sources who spoke on the condition that they not be named. The two sources said police believe he was involved in Chasen's death.
Chasen was shot to death last month while driving her Mercedes-Benz near the intersection of Whittier Drive and Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills.

I said from the beginning this was a odd murder can’t wait to hear who it is
Pauly Walnuts.
These cops really are incompetent.
You base that on what nick?
They were serving a search warrant and they let the suspect get a weapon and kill himself? Isn’t that a textbook example of not doing what they are supposed to? There goes that lead.
There was no expectation of an arrest in this part of the investigation...They were only looking for information. In other words, according to reports, they did not expect to arrest a suspect at this location tonight.
BTW nick, how do you stop someone from shooting themselves?
“Serving a search warrant” could mean many thngs.
It could be that they had just entered the property and were still a distance from the room in which the suspect was located.
It would pay to know more before commenting on the cops methods.
BTW nick, wouldn't this open up the lead, and point towards the person that shot himself?
I would guess if the gun this guy used to shoot himslef, was the same one that killed Chasen, it would kinda of solve the case.
I don’t know nick , this sounds like efficiency to me .
Good find dragnet2. I am curious to see if we ever find out the truth on this one.
The main problem would be that if he was a hired gun, it might be harder to prove who hired him.
But if the cops got that close to the guy that pulled the trigger, there is a good chance they know or can find out who hired him.
Suspect shoots self while cops are serving a search warrant for info surrounding a homicide, would possibly indicate they found their suspect...
But again, this is just wild specutlaion nick.
(:o)
You don’t believe in the U.S. justice system?
LOL!
Entrapment!!!
I don’t recall reading or hearing of a really hard egg, like a mob hit man, killing himself over a warrant.
So I would guess that if he was a paid shooter that he was just some punk who got a chance to make some big dough.
If that is the case, he will have made some stupid error that will expose the person who hired him.
On the other hand, if he was a psycho like the guy that shot Reagan, the trail will end there.
Since Hollywood is full of nut cases, we will have to wait and see. But in either case, the murder is close to being solved.
Good points, but if this is the suspect, and it *very* likely is, his ID *alone* and possible evidence found at his location, will likely be a case closer...
Remember, something led investigators to this location and what ever info that was, has likely been confirmed very good and credible.
