The ultimate sin is sin itself, which can be described as the aggregate of specific sins such as pride, envy, lust, greed etc.
What we’re talking about is failure to obey God’s rules, which goes along with failure to recognize God’s supreme sovereignty.
Unless I’ve missed something, I would say sin has little or nothing to do with “dependence on others.”
Interesting point of view...hadn’t thought about the Christian story of creation from that perspective.

Some excerpts from that link —
Two organizations that use initiations and magic associated with Lilith are the Ordo Antichristianus Illuminati and the Order of Phosphorus.
Lilith appears as a succuba in Aleister Crowley’s De Arte Magica.
Lilith was also one of the middle names of Crowleys first child, Nuit Ma Ahathoor Hecate Sappho Jezebel Lilith Crowley (b. 1904, d.1906), and Lilith is sometimes identified with Babalon in Thelemic writings.
A Chaos Magical rite, based on an earlier German rite,[118] offers a ceremonial Invocation of Lilith:[119]
In modern Luciferianism, Lilith is considered a consort of Lucifer and is identified with the figure of Babalon. She is said to come from the mud and dust, and is known as the Queen of the Succubi.
When she and Lucifer mate, they form an androgynous being called “Baphomet” or the “Goat of Mendes,” also known in Luciferianism as the “God of Witches.”[122][not in citation given]
Writings by Michael W. Ford, including The Foundations of the Luciferian Path, contend that Lilith forms a part of the “Luciferian Trinity” consisting of herself, Samael and Cain.
Likewise, Lilith is said to have been Cain’s actual mother, as opposed to Eve. Lilith here is seen as a goddess of witches, the dark feminine principle, and is also known as the goddess Hecate.[123]
In some contemporary concepts, Lilith is viewed as the embodiment of the Goddess, a designation that is thought to be shared with what these faiths believe to be her counterparts: Inanna, Ishtar, Asherah, Anath and Isis.[127]
According to one view, Lilith was originally a Sumerian, Babylonian, or Hebrew mother goddess of childbirth, children, women, and sexuality[128][129][130] who later became demonized due to the rise of patriarchy.[131]
Other modern views hold that Lilith is a dark moon goddess on par with the Hindu Kali.[132]

Either the Bible is what it has been understood to be for nearly 2000 years, or it’s merely a work of literature that we can interpret to no end.
It can’t be both.
I do remember this idiocy, partly because one of my nieces and her mother were thrilled to attend one of these concerts. From Wikipedia:
History
In 1996, Canadian Sarah McLachlan became frustrated with concert promoters and radio stations that refused to feature two female musicians in a row.[1] Bucking conventional industry wisdom, she booked a successful tour for herself and Paula Cole. At least one of their appearances together in McLachlan's home town, on September 14, 1996 went by the name "Lilith Fair" and included performances by McLachlan, Cole, Lisa Loeb and Michelle McAdorey, formerly of Crash Vegas.
The next year, McLachlan founded the Lilith Fair tour, taking Lilith from the medieval Jewish legend that Lilith was Adam's first wife. In 1997, Lilith Fair garnered a $16 million gross, making it the top-grossing of any touring festival.[1] Among all concert tours for that year, it was the 16th highest grossing.[1]
Because of its all-female line up, the festival received several pejorative nicknames, including "Breast-fest" and "Girlapalooza".[2][3]
Now, Lilith Fair is gearing up to tour again in 2010, back with many of the artists that have previously played, along with some newcomers. [edit]
[ Unless Ive missed something, I would say sin has little or nothing to do with dependence on others. ]
Dependance on others while a helpless child is not a sin, however aftetr someone has grown up and is capable of taking care of oneself is as it is greed fueled by envy and sloth.
When Adam and Eve were in the garden and didn’t have forbidden knowledge thery were dependant on God, but it was not a sin because they couldn’t take care of themselves. After they ate the forbidden fruit of worldly knowledge, and they still wanted to stay in the garden (enough so tthat they LIED to God about eating the fruit) they were sinning because they could take care of themselves, but still wanted to be “taken care of by god”. Their dependance on God AFTER being able to take care of themselves (as evidenced by their making of clothing) was a Sin.
God throwing Adam and Eve out of the garden was a mericful act of basically saying, “You are adults now, now go forth and take care of yourself”.
I confess I have no idea what his post meant. Maybe it was in code.
Better to get them to leave the country. An open civil war could have big drawback. For starters, other socialist nations would regroup.
Go ahead and get me banned. I don’t ******* care anymore. It’s all over anyway.
Whose post, soothesayer’s or stu’s?
I have heard this before. The word “lullaby” comes from the word Lilith. I was told that Hebrew parents put some kind of amulet or talisman over the crib to protect the baby from Lilith. Now these women are calling forth Lilith to come and take the baby while still in the uterus? I guess they don't realize how much in the old days Hebrew parents feared Lilith!
Catholic Encyclopedia--Demonology: It is certainly significant that, instead of borrowing from the abundant legends and doctrines ready to their hand in the alien systems, the rabbinical demonologists sought their starting point in some text of their own scriptures and drew forth all they wanted by means of their subtle and ingenious methods of exegesis.
Thus the aforesaid text of Isaias furnished, under the name of Lilith, a mysterious female night spirit who apparently lived in desolate places, and forthwith they made her the demon wife of Adam and the mother of demons. But whence, it may be asked, had these exponents of the sacred text any warrant for saying that our first father contracted a mixed marriage with a being of another race and begot children other than human?
They simply took the text of Genesis, v: "And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son to his own image and likeness". This explicit statement they said, plainly implies that previous to that time he had begotten sons who were not to his own image and likeness; for this he must needs have found some help meet of another race than his own, to wit a demon wife, to become the mother of demons.

And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." (Genesis 3:22)
Sorry, GraceG, but that is a serious error. Dependance on others has nothing to do with original sin.
The sin of Adam and Eve was their disobedience to God, and their desire to be a god themselves, as the serpent promised to Eve. That sin has been transmitted to all thier offspring to the entire human race, according to the Bible.
The transgression was so severe, that only the sacrifice of Jesus could atone for it. The sign of the blood sacrifice to come was demonstrated by God, in that an animal had to die in order to provide the skins for the clothing God made for Adam and for Eve to hide their nakedness.
Your views have nothing to do with what the Bible says, and are flawed, and I am trying to say that nicely. Such error cannot be allowed to go uncorrected.
Thanks, Mark for the etymology.
You can tell I use the NASB.
