House May Block Food Safety Bill Over Senate Error(That Dang Constitution)
Roll Call ^ | 11/30/10 | John Stanton

Posted on 11/30/2010 9:27:25 PM PST by Revel

A food safety bill that has burned up precious days of the Senate’s lame-duck session appears headed back to the chamber because Democrats violated a constitutional provision requiring that tax provisions originate in the House.

By pre-empting the House’s tax-writing authority, Senate Democrats appear to have touched off a power struggle with members of their own party in the House. The Senate passed the bill Tuesday, sending it to the House, but House Democrats are expected to use a procedure known as “blue slipping” to block the bill, according to House and Senate GOP aides.

The debacle could prove to be a major embarrassment for Senate Democrats, who sought Tuesday to make the relatively unknown bill a major political issue by sending out numerous news releases trumpeting its passage.

“Great news, The food bill is a disaster takeover of the food business by Omullah.”

You got that exactly right - send these to everyone you know and tell them to also. They fully intend to control the food supply “WHO CONTROLS THE FOOD CONTROLS THE PEOPLE” - tyrants from all ages knew this.

Oh my - I can't decide if you are naive enough to think that this bill has anything to do with their concern about our food safety (they don't. They just want control of it - follow the money)
Or you really think our food is ‘safe’ and the go’v ti looking out for us - the system works and all that nonsense -
or - you are part of the problem, got a finger in the pie.

YOu might want to watch these - the FOOD INC is only a few clips - I URGE you to watch the whole film - and ya’ll best think about growing gardens and getting some laying hens.

Unless I’m mistaken, HCR passed in the House before the Senate, as did many of their rotten bills.

It’s my understanding that reconciliation concerns budget bills. Obamacare was an anomaly, I think.

Reconciliation is the only way Obamacare would pass the Senate, so that’s what they did.

The bill should have originated with the House. That’s means its dead.

Then 0bamacare should be dead for he same reason. The Senate took a bill originating in the the house, completely removed all language from it and inserted 0bamacare. That was the sleaziest, nastiest most blatant power grab I've ever seen. Yet no one as addressed it.

On March 5, 2010, Senator Harry Reid said, 'Today is a big day in America.
Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today, which is really good.'

Where are the jobs Harry?

No, a Yea vote means to vote for the bill (thus part of the 75-25 majority).

If the GOP filibusters them, nothing is gonna happen next month.

No way that will happen with traitors like Olympia Snowe and Susanne Collins, the evil RINO twins from Maine.

Ok, so they screwed up. But judging by the comments in here, it`s a “who gives a damn if our food is safe to eat!” attitude. I swear, conservatives can be just as insane as liberals, sometimes.

This bill was written by lobbyists for big Agri-food companies.

Just about everything the Reid-Pelosi cabal have crammed through the last four years could be titled the "No Competition From, No Choice For, The 'Little Guy' Act."

Going back at least as far as the previous round of "financial reform," which gave us the millstone of Sarbanes-Oxley, there appears to be a concerted effort, led by socialists and joined by their many dupes and fellow travelers, to destroy the creation, viability and influence of small and medium sized business. They are a bulwark of market liberty. Mega corporations, by comparison, are more prone to government intimidation, bribery and co-option.

You could apply your statement to any one of their big initiatives. If you think this is about food safety, you’re not playing chess. You’re not even playing checkers.

What's insane is the idea that it's actually about making food safe, and won't get turned into a huge red-tape fustercluck riddled with loopholes handed out as political favors.
