Great post. That was eerily close the course of the thread.
Merry Christmas to you too!

an unemployed person over 50 has no hope. If, as you say, somebody in that position feels that way they should go ahead and off themselves. The national average IQ would be much higher as a result.
I am not responding to you.....merely highlighting your class (lack of it) for all to see.

But it would be individual, not collective.I totally agree with all your observations; unfortunately the politicians have to invest in their voters, who won't plan and spend like they do, and it just wouldn't be fair. Consequences for a lifetime of hedonism is simply mean-spirited.
Sort of like health "insurance" for pre-existing conditions, LOL!!

You're killing me here.
Assuming, of course, that you don't actually take yourself seriously.

How long do these people expect to free load off the people who decide to work and not free load? I wish I could take a 2 year tax payer paid vacation and expect to get another extension. But then again I have enough pride to work, even if it is not my first choice of jobs.

Factor in the alleged EU bailout funded by US Taxpayers.
While Big Interest influences DC on a daily basis, the taxpayers are lucky if they get the chance for a deciding election every two years.

I think part of the problem is that some people are afraid to lose their comfort zones. We’ve gotten so used to a certain lifestyle that we have a hard time giving it up.
We Americans have become a spoiled lot. It may be a little rough to downsize to a smaller home, cook your own meals, take a pay cut, shop at thrift stores or move to a different city/state but drastic times call for drastic measures.
Two years is ample time to do something about your situation.
The line HAS to be drawn somewhere.

Where shall they go? What jobs? Where?
There are jobs out there. They may not be dream jobs, but they are there. Why do you think people are still coming over the borders to get them. There are just too many people who refuse to take a job they think is below them. When I can no longer find employers looking for help in every newspaper in America I will agree we have a problem. Until then I say that there are jobs, maybe not dream jobs, but there are jobs. Jobs that anybody with any pride will take before going on welfare.
