I caught a glimpse of the former Commander of the USS Cole on AC180 last night.
He made a very good point that when senior officers from the CJCS to the SecDef to other very senior officers essentially endorse the repeal of the current law, the message filters down the ranks that this is what the upper ranks want.
He also said that the muckymucks should not have prejudiced the survey by speaking out in favor of this measure.
So, my feeling is that this survey ultimately ends up lowballing the opposition to this measure, particularly in ground combat forces.
Exactly why I didn’t bother responding to their so-called “survey.” It’s perfectly obvious that the powers-that-be don’t give a $h!+ what we think.
