Probe of Steele spending sought; RNC leader cites 'wasted donors' dollars' in request
The Washington Times ^ | 2010-11-30 | Ralph Z. Hallow

A member of the Republican National Committee's top panel will call for an investigation of RNC Chairman Michael S. Steele's spending, warning that "cronyism" dried up big-donor fundraising this year and now is jeopardizing major-donor fundraising for the 2012 GOP presidential nominating convention in Tampa, Fla.

Oregon RNC member Solomon Yue will call on the group's executive committee to freeze hiring and spending and review all RNC contracts.

"We know the RNC's big donors left us in this election cycle because Steele pocketed speaking fees and book royalties, and because he hired aides and friends - and paid them two to three times more than market value," Mr. Yue, an executive committee member and a founder of the Republican National Conservative Caucus, told The Washington Times.

"Steele has wasted donors' dollars on spending that had nothing to do with electing our House and Senate candidates on Nov. 2," he said.

People like Steele personally, but if you walked through the River of Republican Insiders Pity regarding the troubles Michael Steele has gotten himself in by his lavish personal spending, you would not even get your ankles wet.

It's a doggone shame we have to listen to a loser from Oregon kvetching about what was a very widespread HISTORIC victory in the rest of the country.

What we need is for Yue, et al, to get busy and give us a couple of US Senators, a Republican mayor in Portland, and a 100% Republican Congressional delegation (with a total takeover of the state government) FIRST.

Then he can complain.

I'm watching to see who takes Vera Katz old job eh!

You guys want a definition of a RINO ~ here's one ~ a guy who claims he's a Republican but the Democrats keep getting wins. Action must be taken in Oregon to ensure that Democrats don't win.

“Go Quietly”?
Ya gots to be kidding.
If they do push Steele out the door he will be yelling racism and we all know it.
Steele was put in the position hoping that the fact he is black may attract a few blacks away from the quota boy in charge.
Obviously that hasn’t happened and STeele has turned out to be a devisive mess.
Throw him out with yesterdays fish head.

[RNC spending for Tampa through September exceeded $636,800 - or 18 times the total spent in a comparable period four years ago, based on data available on the Federal Election Commission website, The Washington Post reported on Saturday.

“All told, the extended Cook family received $106,291 in known compensation from the Committee on Arrangements in the three month period from July 1 to Sept. 30,” the Daily Caller reported Monday.]

The democrats are communist thieves, the republicans are bribes takers and givers and yet so many free republic memebers tell me that I waste my vote on third party candidates. They are for the most part the only ones who are both honest, patriotic and will do the things necessary to keep the republic free and just.
It is a wasted vote only if you vote for communists or thieves as far as I can tell.
And Steele seems to be a typical republican in my opinion.

Third parties have no power to wield corruptly.

If you want to make a difference you’ve got to jump in and start mucking out the GOP stables with the rest of us.

Precisely so.

This is largely what the TEA Party movement is about. Thinking people realize that the political reality in the USA is that you must use one of the two major parties to achieve anything, and the Republican Party is the vehicle being used.

This isn’t Europe. A vote for a third party gets you absolutely nothing. Look at Perot in 1992; 19 % of the vote and he got Nothing, not even one State.

Why should he go quietly. He is making good money with no prospect of a better gig. He can play the race card if he is replaced.

You mean this idiot hasn’t been dumped yet?

Republican stupidity is beyond a bad joke.

Each day the RNC keeps Steele on is one more day that it is clear the party organization doesn’t get it. Steele should have been canned no later than the day after the election.

He won’t go quietly and then when he is forced out, he’ll be a regular on MSNBC and the other MSM shows to talk about how blacks still can’t feel comfortable in the Republican Party—and make a fortune doing it.

I supported Blackwell, much more conservative AND he had been elected to office by the people of Ohio at least twice.

The GOP needs to shed a bunch of these unelected political "operatives";they are too much like quarterbacks that never get in the game but want to tell everyone else how to play.

Had a nightmare dream last night. Palin won the GOP primary and Romney ran on a third party ticket, ala Murkowski - which enabled the Dem to win the presidency.
