India is developing indigenous aircraft carriers and the aim is to have a total of three Aircraft carriers resulting in two fully operational Carrier battle groups and an additional Aircraft carrier eventually in refit making India an operating Blue-water navy.

So lets take an accounting here.
We are selling F18 E/F to india, F35 to Turkey, and stopped production, further development/refinement of F22. Selling AH64 Blk3 Apaches, Little Birds to Sauda Arabia. Two of the three above are potential enemies.
What do we have on the drawing board to counter this?

Looks like, smells like, and IMHO is most probably Treason, with $100 Billion be cut out of defense to fund Unions!
Secretary Of Defense Gates should be in chains for participating in Treason.

Secretary Gates may be an idiot to sell F-35s to Turkey and an idiot in many things. But all three of the deals create jobs in America .

We could have created jobs selling weapons to Hitler prior to WWII too.
That’s hardly a justification for committing Treason, and destroying Our Republic’s future.

So I take it you do not want America continue to create good paying jobs?

Of course I want jobs for American workers, particularly in technological endeavors, since I am a SW engineer working on the Apache!

However, to sell technology to potential enemies is, at best short-sighted, but since I do not believe policy makers are stupid, then it is Treasonous.
I am commenting on a policy that may leave the next generation of Americans with less Freedom than where handed down to you and I.

In my world view, moral concerns trump economic concerns.

The Senate approved the sale of the F-35 to Turkey in November 2006 when Rumsfeld was SecDef.

SONOBUOY PING!

Click on pic for past Navair pings.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

Only the first few. Turkey is demanding a license to build them in-country, just like they did with their F-16's.

What, selling sabers to Uhlans and Black Hundreds?

You really ought to be a little more discriminating.

Then we should add “kill switches” on aircraft we sell to potential enemies.
