Willie is too old to go to jail. If he goes he'll write 10 new songs about it & we'll have to listen to them.
Why punish society?

Willie Nelson is a liberal dopehead and no doubt guilty of felony pot possession, but Governor Perry should still just pardon him and send him on the road again,A lot of folks might think that what you're saying there is crazy, but Willie Nelson is a cultural icon with a huge national following.
If Governor Perry allows his state machinery to send Willie Nelson to his state prison for smoking dope, there are many, many people who will know and remember nothing else about Governor Perry than that he persecuted Willie. For whatever reason, millions of people really love Willie Nelson and feel a powerful, personal connection to him.
They do not and will not see him as a danger to society.

Merle Hagard wrote and sang Mama Tried.

Societies of every age have their talented eccentrics that have been allowed certain latitudes concerning societal mores. Willie Nelson falls under this category. I hope they give the old boy his dope back and send him along the road.

Haven’t we got anything better to do than to worry if Willie Nelson is smoking pot?

“The world is a better place because Willie Nelson is in it.”
I don’t know about that. but I sure liked his “Angels Flying to Close to the Ground.” Great Song.

When the dims went AWOL on the Texas legislature, old willie boy financed their motel and living expenses while they hid themselves like dogs... right over the State line.I remember that very well. Whether or not pot should be legal, it is currently illegal and thus, Willie Nelson is a law-breaker and should face the same penalties someone who is not a celebrity would face. Put him in jail.

Why the government cares about Willie smoking pot:
"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."

Hey there good friend, you have a really good recall and memory. Come on Ol Willie, is getting too old to be sleeping on those concrete beds.
