The Obama administration Monday increased the amounts of ethanol and other renewable fuels it wants to see as part of the nations gasoline supply, but a senior official took aim at the practice. Responding to a congressional mandate, the Environmental Protection Agency will require that 13.95 billion gallons of transportation fuel comes from renewable sources in 2011, or about 8 percent of domestic gasoline and diesel supplies. The overall percentage is lower than the 2010 standard, but the total volume is larger than this years mandate of 12.95 billion gallons.

The list, ping

Congressional Mandate??? should read all fuels to be 100% American petroleum by 2012.
There must be a way to convert EPA employees into fuel.
Yet more work for the next Congress to unfund and axe.
What is needed is unfettered access to sources of raw hydrocarbons that can be converted into fuels. The cost and other factors for each source will determine the degree each is used by the market.
We are almost literally awash in hydrocarbons that can be used for fuels. The only reason we don’t have biodiesel today from processing Butterball turkeys or even sewage sludge is because it cost too much. The instant that the costs of using crude oil rise, other sources will be used by the market. In a free market, we can NEVER run out.
Several years ago, the Office of the Secretary of Defense produced a report showing that the United States has over 2X the amount of hydrocarbon resources as did Arab OPEC.

It is sheer madness to burn food and leave coal in the ground. It is sheer madness to decline to develop nuclear power, and especially to ignore the tremendous potential of thorium fuel.
I say we all go to wood burning cars!
Dear EPA
What is needed is called “Oil” or “Natural Gas” or “Coal” and the only thing stopping us is the “EPA”
