A British Airways computer expert who is alleged to have offered himself as a suicide bomber appeared in court today to deny terrorism charges. Rajib Karim, 31, of Newcastle upon Tyne, remains in custody and is due to go on trial on January 24 at Woolwich Crown Court in south east London. Bangladesh-born Karim appeared via videolink today at the Old Bailey where he pleaded not guilty to two charges of preparing for terrorism. Each count covers the period from April 13 2006 to February 26 2010 and includes the allegation that he 'offered to be a martyr or suicide bomber'. The first charge alleges that he engaged in conduct in preparation of terrorism, with the intention of committing acts of terrorism, including that he 'incited the giving of permission to carry out terrorist acts in the United Kingdom'. Karim is also said to have offered to travel to Yemen or Pakistan to carry out terrorism training, and to have advised about potential recruits to commit terrorist acts in the UK. Also among the conduct said to form part of the allegation was that he stayed in the UK long enough to obtain a British passport.

Sorry we are unable to accept comments for legal reasons.
Wouldn't want to disrupt social cohesion, now would we? Offering sensitive positions to jihadi wannabes & accomplices . . .not a problem.
Rajib Karim, 31,...
Those silly Amish.
Another person — and his entire family — who should never have been allowed to put a foot on Western soil. Not fit to live in a civilized society.
they were not a part of civilized society until very recently..... oil money ... and there was a good reason for that. they do not value any life...neither their own nor others... which consitutes a 24/7 threat to freedom.
Very British. He's probably related to the royal family in some way.
With all the problems with terrorist activity and airlines and the history thereof, factually, why would British Airways hire a guy with a name like Rajib Karim as a computer expert.
A guy who stayed in the UK just long enough to gain a passport and then was privy to information on cabin crew training, information, experience and aeroplane access and ‘inside knowledge’.
It never occurred to them the terrorists would try to plant someone for this information, they never had reservations regarding hiring him?
No, because that would not be politically correct. The morons are running the world these days.
Just take him out back and a .22 in the head.
You are baaaad! No open casket funeral???:-)))
“You are baaaad! No open casket funeral???:-)))”
No funeral, left in the open to rot.
The UK is a cesspool dominated by Muslims and leftists. I’m pretty sure they have anti-blasphemy laws in place. That’s why they can’t “accept comments for legal reasons.”
Any normal person who tries to live in or raise a family in the UK is #*&$%^8 idiot. They should be fleeing or killing every last rodent.
Not at all. This is standard practice with reports of current criminal trials, whatever the alleged offence. It's simply that, under British law, to comment on the merits of a criminal prosecution while it's in progress constitutes contempt of court. The media can only report the facts of the proceedings, not publish commentary. (It's a different matter, of course, after the case in concluded). The law on comtempt of court is much stricter in Britain than in the US.
I was half-joking. Sometimes it’s hard to tell.
