Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is considering applying for asylum in Switzerland because he fears for his safety.

The controversial intelligence hacker said he was still looking into the process, the Associated Press reports.
“The Swiss have a history of fierce independence,” he told reporters.

Assange applied for residency in Sweden in October, but his application was rejected as Swedish authorities look into allegations he sexually assaulted two Swedish women.
The 39-year-old Australian denied those charges.
