NEW YORK, NY -- Last week, the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly voted on a special resolution addressing extrajudicial, arbitrary and summary executions. The resolution affirms the duties of member countries to protect the right to life of all people with a special emphasis on a call to investigate killings based on discriminatory grounds. The resolution highlights particular groups historically subject to executions including street children, human rights defenders, members of ethnic, religious, and linguistic minority communities, and, for the past 10 years, the resolution has included sexual orientation as a basis on which some individuals are targeted for death.
ndment to strike sexual minorities from the resolution. The amendment was adopted with 79 votes in favor, 70 against, 17 abstentions and 26 absent.
A collection of notorious human rights violators voted for the amendment including Afghanistan, Algeria, China, Congo, Cuba, Eritrea, North Korea, Iran (didn't Ahmadinejad tell the world there were no gays in Iran?), Egypt, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Sudan, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
Add to this Bahamas, Belize (where you get 10 years for being gay), Jamaica (10 years of hard labor), Grenada (10 years), Guyana (life sentence), Saint Kitts and Nevis (10 years), Saint Lucia (10 years), Saint Vincent (10 years), South Africa (Apartheid? What apartheid?), and Morocco (ruled by a gay monarch!). They are all on the list of nations that do not think execution of gays and lesbians is worthy of condemnation or investigation. (The full vote tally is published beneath this column.)
To its shame, Colombia was among the 16 nations who abstained.
Those against the amendment include every European nation present, all Scandinavian countries, India, Korea, most of Latin America, all of North America, and only one Middle Eastern nation: Israel. In most countries in the Middle East, it is a crime to be gay--in some, like Saudi Arabia, it is punishable by beheading and in others, like Iran, by hanging.
The UN has a remarkable track record of doing virtually nothing when presented with mass killings or genocide. "Never again!" was the cry after the holocaust. Since then, the world has witnessed a dozen more never agains with strong condemnation from the UN coming after the corpses pile up. A resolution of the sort that was voted on in the General Assembly is significant for its clarity of message: "It's okay to kill the gays."
The British government had pleaded: "The subject of this amendment--the need for prompt and thorough investigations of all killing, including those committed for ... sexual orientation--exists in this resolution simply because it is a continuing cause for concern."
Not a single African nation voted against the amendment. This is not surprising. Homosexuality is illegal in most of Africa. So acceptable is the notion of extra-judicial killings of gay men and women for their consensual private conduct that one of these countries, Uganda, is considering legislation making homosexuality (not the behavior, just being gay) punishable with death. The proposer of the bill, David Bahati, and the Ugandan "Minister for Ethics and Integrity," Nsaba Buturo, have vowed the bill will pass before parliament dissolves on May 12, 2011.
Uganda is not a Muslim nation. It is a Christian country. And it was American evangelical preachers in Uganda who fanned the flames of what could turn into mass executions in a continent that has seen genocidal murder occur numerous times in the last two decades on the basis of religious belief, ethnicity, and membership in a linguistic minority (Burundi, Darfur, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, Zimbabwe...).
I had the opportunity to meet one of the courageous individuals in the struggle against this potential mass killing in Uganda. Her name is Kasha Jacqueline and she was one of the presenters at this year's Oslo Freedom Forum. Jacqueline was concerned for her safety when she made her way to Oslo given that she could have been the subject of retaliation upon her return.
That list of countries was joined by the newest islamic country (The Obama States of America) a while ago, to outlaw critising islam.
Merkel publically went out and asked, “What the hell America was up to”
It was America with all these nuclear targets voting against western Europe.
Haven't you heard? We're dismantling our nuclear arsenal. Now the weapon of choice is a court date followed by, at worst, threats, and verbal chastisements.
Neither do I, but if someone else does, who am I to judge their right to choose.
bttt
The tiny West African nation of Benin (on behalf of the UN's African Group) proposed an amendment to strike sexual minorities from the resolution. (The full vote tally is published beneath this column.)Thanks Eurotwit. So, what's the problem? If there were an amendment proposing to exempt the killing of Jews, the entire list would be little changed, but no leftists would give a sh!t. They're probably saving that one for next year.
Is the SPLC going to brand the UN as a hate group?
[crickets chirping]
Hmmmmmmm
And why they would support islam, the reason behind many of these votes, is also a mystery.
Oh, I forgot, you don't want to give up your communist forward base. Sooner or later we're going to deal with it. . .
The UN is dominated by creeping sick communists, socialists, dictators and muslims.
All you need to do is read the quran and hadiths...it is all there in black and white. It is followed by brain dead zombies that have the tenants of mohammed drilled into their brains from birth....and homosexuals are a big no no...
There are no surprises here...the UN is a joke and we shouldn’t allow it to be on our soil nor should we fund their agenda. The anti-homosexual agenda coming out of the UN is the least of our worries as a country.
However, the growing anti-USA sentiment of these mongrels should be of grave concern and should be addressed.
No country is going to start a war for a minority seeking special status based on their sexual proclivities.
We need to recall all troops home, kick out all vistors, shutter the windows and lock the doors until the rest of the world learns to behave, which they never will.
You won’t hear a word from the gay lobby . After all , at least these people hate America . That trumps the far lefts concern for their survival .
Have you seen references to the New World Order or One World Government on FR? This is what it is all about.
The U.N. Plan For Global Control: The UN Plan For Human Settlements
(snip)
POPULATION CONTROL
The Turner-Fonda message matches the feminist agenda. Former U.S. congresswoman Bella Abzug,2 who had led the onslaught on traditional values at the 1995 UN conference in Beijing, now helped engineer an official partnership between UN leaders, national delegates, and NGOs that support the UN gender agenda. Stationed around the world, her feminist troops promise to serve as watchdogs, making sure "civil society" implements their program for indoctrinating students with feminist ideology. Inspired by the spirits of earthy goddesses such as Athena and Ishtar whom they worshipped in Beijing, they have little tolerance for Christians and others who oppose their agenda.
"We want to change things," declared Abzug. "We'll be on executive boards. We want the participation of NGO's on the security council."
She serves the globalist purpose well. Mobilizing worldwide rebellion against Christian values, pushing birth control and gender-role equality for every family, demanding sex education for every student, and requiring international surveillance to monitor compliance, her followers are speeding the global revolution. Like countless other UN partners, they are winning by propaganda, intimidation, and growing popular consent.
Note that population control means controlling people, not merely births. Regarded as international law, the Habitat Agenda negotiated in Istanbul includes all the intrusive action plans outlined at former UN world conferences. "We want to ensure that previously endorses language [from former UN conferences] is upheld and incorporated into this document," declared Henry Cisneros, U.S. Secretary for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) who led the US delegation.3
This "international law" would limit not only the size of the world population but also housing, production, consumption, parenting, communication, and religious expression.4 Its alarming resemblance to the USSR Constitution5 implies far greater restrictions than those specifically stated in the Habitat Agenda. Since many specifics were detailed at previous UN conferences, it cannot be fully understood outside the context of the progressive plan for global governance as outlined in all the documents.
Training in global citizenship would begin with the universal education system outlined at the 1990 UN World Conference on Education for All. It matches Goals 2000, America's version of the international education system. Already molding minds around the world, the UN plan for "lifelong learning" indoctrinates young and old with the socialist ideology and earth-centered spirituality designed to create solidarity, an essential element to the envisioned world of peace.
.
Yes, this is where our leaders are steering America towards! This is what they have envisioned for our future.
If anyone doesn't understand then start doing research at the kindergarten level.
Most people don't realize this, but a gay person and the gay agenda are not necessarily the same things.
Similar to the way modern environmentalism is not about the environment, but rather political fascism, The "gay agenda" is not about or for gay people (in general), it is another form of fascism using "gay" as a front.
JimRob is happy about that, no doubt.
Excellent point. ROFL X 10.
