Obviously Bush’s Fault!
TaHo Ho Ho Ping!
So, yeah, that thing under lake Tahoe is a young'n ~ and still pretty hot. It probably goes through cycles.
I keep waiting for global warming, but it’s not coming to western Michigan. Too bad. We could use it.
Is it supervolcano time yet?

How did Lake Tahoe form?
Three to five million years ago, the valley that would become the Tahoe Basin sank between parallel fractures in the Earths crust as the mountains on either side continued to rise. A shallow lake began to form in the resulting valley. Two to three million years ago, erupting volcanoes blocked the outlet on the north end, forcing the lake to raise hundreds of feet above its current elevation, and eventually eroding down to near its current outlet.
Between one million and 20,000 years ago, large masses of glacial ice covered the west side of the Tahoe Basin.
Current geologic theory suggests an earthen berm (moraine) on the Truckee River left by a receding glacier near Squaw Valley, or the glacier itself, acted as a dam. This caused the lake level to rise and then draw down rapidly when the dam catastrophically failed. The epic-sized flood washed boulders the size of cars past present-day Reno, Nev. Between 7-15 thousand years ago, a four-mile segment of the West Shore collapsed into the Lake. The cataclysmic event caused a massive submerged debris avalanche, produced a 300-foot high tsunami and widened the Lake by three miles.
This must be part of the Muslim outreach program.
I hope you tell them to attach a line and at least use the max/min type...
After all, look at the type of person that took the job: More
concerned about making non-Americans that quite can't
overcome being stuck in the 7th century feel good about
themselves, than benefiting America and Americans.
As a kid, I read a bio of Ben Franklin. He heard about the Gulf
Stream, and on his voyages to and from Europe, would lower
a thermometer to learn and observe.
He didn't go to Harvard, thanks to being forbidden by his father.
Some folks here have suggested natural causes for the warming. I would point out that this suggests there is warming going on. I’m not saying that there is, or isn’t, just that I don’t accept the premise.
I have to believe that the technology they are using has changed in the last few decades. Even if it hasn’t, it still would need to be maintained, checked for accuracy, and calibrated (I suspect). And you know that somewhere in there there is some “adjustment”.
It could be the readings are going up because they are simply more accurate now and they were reporting low in the past.
Or maybe, and by “maybe” I mean I’d bet beer money on it, somewhere in the process the numbers are being adjusted or the machines calibrated to come up with warming. Since we “know” there is warming, if it doesn’t show up it must be the machine needs tuning.
Considering the heat capacity of water of many many many times greater than air, this doesn’t seem physically possible
Actually, if this is happening, this would heavily imply a solar cause.
Some perspective.

Define... Many.
More than half? More than 3? More than 20?
How many lakes are there in the Northern Hemisphere? I know Minnesota has at least 10,000, yes?
This means nothing without knowing the following:
What is the total number of lakes?
What percentage of them are warming by more than 1 degree?
What percentage is staying the same temperature, or within 1/10th of a degree either up or down?
What percentage have cooled more than 1 degree?
Vulcanism.
Let’s not be too hasty to blame this on Spock.
it’s because of all the unicorns peeing in the water. I still love Tahoe, though. Darn those unicorns.
I was being sarcastic nothing against :)
