South Korea names security adviser as defense minister
SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korean President Lee Myung-bak appointed his security adviser as new defense minister on Friday, Korean media reported, as tensions rise after a deadly artillery attack by North Korea and an impending joint military exercise with the United States.
Lee Hee-Won, the new minister, is a career military man who advocates a "smart" military able to anticipate and react quickly to North Korea's unpredictable moves
We don’t know how tough a guy he is. If he just likes to obey the current Pres, he may not be effective. After all, Defense Minister quit yesterday because he was fed up with covering for Pres. and his aides.
That's funny.:-)
SK faces the threat of destruction from the North and they’re called “hawkish.” Why do dictatorships always escape accountability for their aggression?
It is being reported on Philippines television a special envoy will travel to Seoul to coordinate the evacuation of OFW’s from South Korea. The envoy stated 15 minutes ago he will stay until all evacuations are completed.
He said everything is in the planning stage and no evacuation has been ordered.
He stated Japan was officially asked to be the conduit for departures.

Overseas foreign workers
Philippine Coast Guard commandant Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said they were ready to help evacuate 60,000 Filipinos in South Korea in the event of a full-blown war.
If we are asked and if there is a need, we would help, Tamayo said.

I didn't know either so did a search for "OFW".
...Most overseas Filipino migrate to other nations to find employment or support their families in the Philippines. As a result of this migration, many countries have a substantial Filipino community.
Often, these Filipinos are referred to as "Overseas Filipino Workers" or "OFWs".
