"If her name was Bristol Smith or Bristol Jones, she would not be on the show or she would not have gotten this far," he said. "She went from being a bad dancer to a mediocre dancer. But she was not the best dancer."

This is such a crock. The first season of DWTS ended in disaster as a really bad and clumsy dancer (Kelly Monaco) won the title because she appeared in more and more skimpy outfits as the season wore on. It infuriated the fans so much, that DWTS had to stage a rematch between Monaco and John O'Hurley (he won) to quell the viewers' anger.

And she didn’t go from bad dancer to “mediocre” either! She became a fairly decent dancer as evidenced by several solid 9 scores from the judges! But these idiots are not happy unless they are somehow, in some fashion, tearing down a Palin.

And as far as his comment about if her name wasn’t “Palin” she wouldn’t have been on the show. Well . . . duh. At least in her case, half of her name was recognizable to people in advance of the first show.

Who would be on that show, but for their name?

The crazed liberals just don't get it that the show is not just dance but dancing and entertainment. They just look for shi@ to make them feel better. Even the judges and the MC's couldn't understand it by the remarks they made. And the producers were just a guilty. Grow up, liberal asses. Can't stand these sore bunch of sick nitwits. By the way I'm a conservative and voted for Jennifer all the way.

In reality, calling that show "Dancing with the Stars is quite a stretch.

“If her name was Bristol Smith or Bristol Jones, she would not be on the show...”

Which is the key to this whole controversy.

It’s a game show. The contestants compete for money. It’s based on a public popularity vote. Those who garner the most viewers and voters stay because they generate more MONEY for the Producers. Whether the voting is because of dancing, or being an underdog, or because it promotes publicity by being CONTROVERSIAL doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes.

MONEY MONEY MONEY. That is the why of the Palin/DWTS. They wanted Todd, but he wouldn’t do it. Don’t tell me they wanted him because he’s a good dancer.

Not really. A lot of people like her mom. A lot of people like her. A lot of those people voted for her. That, along with her and her partner’s performance, was good enough to get her into the finals.

And who do you think designed/provided those costumes?

I have refrained from saying this, but if it weren't for attractive females, some celebrities we know, dancing in skimpy outfits trying to see how far apart and how long they can spread their legs, there would be no DWTS on TV.

If truth be told Jennifer Grey would not have been considered an amateur on the same level as Bristol.

The pretense was all on the side of the Dirty Dancing star.

Amateur my foot!!!

And giving her the most successful professional ever to appear on the show.

She was the designated winner from day one.

GO BRISTOL GO

Joe Gideon: Listen. I can't make you a great dancer. I don't even know if I can make you a good dancer. But, if you keep trying and don't quit, I know I can make you a better dancer. I'd like very much to do that. Stay?

Victoria: Are you going to keep yelling at me?

Joe Gideon: Probably.

What exactly did this girl do to deserve the hatefulness that’s been sent her way? I don’t watch the show, but I give her props for trying her best & being a heck of a good sport. I respect her for sticking it out in spite of the threats & harassment.

If Barack Obama had not been groomed for the Presidency by the establishment media, he would never have won 2 Grammys and a Nobel Peace Prize before he accomplished anything.

Did you ever see Battle Of The Network Stars? Half of those contestants had no athletic ability and wouldn't have even BEEN in a sports competition if they hadn't been already famous!

Well, she wouldn’t have been on the show if she wasn’t Bristol Palin. But after that, who knows what might motivate viewers to vote a certain way? In most of these shows, at least one “undeserving” candidate gets promoted through the contest, usually only getting eliminated when you get to the final few and the votes are divided up so many ways.

And that’s what happened here. Bristol had a fan base for whatever reason, and that fan base was more than enough to come in 3rd in a 4-way race, but not enough to overcome the judges score in a 3-way contest.

I can't fathom any other reason I'd ever tune in to watch that show. Of course, I don't watch it anyway....

Although I admit that seeing John O'Hurley in the first season would have been a hoot.

Bristol Palin was brought on the show precisely because she had name recognition. Jennifer Grey was the ringer.

With the exception of real news TV is fake. Anyone that thinks that is not the case believes wrestling is real. Which it is as far as people getting flung around but there is a script and the outcome is fixed.

Bristol Palin would have had to become a professional dancer in short order to win. There was no way she could have done that with the likes of Jennifer Grey in the cast. Yes, it is a cast and the players have their parts. Jennifer Grey was cast as the winner. Why? Because Patrick Swayze died and the producers wanted to make some money opff that fact. And Jennifer played her part. She cried about Swayze and danced to music she had danced to with Swayze. She is an actress and she even played the part of the "underdog" as she danced will "injured". She gets bonus points with the producers for that.

DWTS has a basic formula for it's cast. The good dancers, the klutzes, the old person, the black guy that "gets better", the jokers and funny people that can't dance and the winner who usually has an extensive dancing background. Sometimes there is a variable like an ice skater who "wows" everyone who for some strange reason is suprised that someone that can dance on ice can magically dance on a floor. WOW:)

The producers have a new character for the show. They started this new character off with Tom Delay. It is the hated conservative or in this case the daughter of the hated conservative. This person, like the evil Russian or Arab or whoever in wrestling is the "bad" guy. Unfortunately, or fortunately for the producers, Bristol Palin was obviously a very nice person. Both in front and behind the cameras. You can tell people liked her.I think her "role" was to be the villian. But something happened, most of the public liked or loved her. So they had a meeting and did a script re-write. Why? The votes. The object is to sell stuff and it does no good in TV to piss off your viewers. So Palin was morphed from the bad guy to the "wow you are doing so much better better guy getting votes". An added benefit was having her mom show up on the set. Yea, a "set", not a ball room.

Through out of of this Palin was a trooper. She knew going in what the script called for and so did her mom. It took a lot of guts for her to even show up. Knowing that DWTS was going to be a platform for ridicule against her, her family and especially her mother. But she turned that around and by doing so changed the script and the flow of the show. Pretty impressive.

The DTWS producers are likely on cloud nine. They had a huge set of eyeballs on their show and made a pile of money. Why? Mainly Bristol Palin. Out of everyone new watching the show most were there to watch Bristol. And I can prove that. Soon, if not already you will hear of another conservative or high profile person who will possibly be on the show. You will hear more about this person than anyone else. Just wait. Because now they are part of a very successful formula. And trust me, once TV has a formula for a show they stick to it as long as it makes money. Ain't capitalism grand?

Gutsy, gutsy, gutsy! That is Bristol Palin and her family. Say what you want about them. Love them or hate them unlike the losers in the White House the Palin family are tough and confident people. Bristol is like her mother. Bristol could not dance and had no experience when it came to dancing. But boy did she learn. Just like her mom did. If Sarah was running with that idiot McCain today against Obama they would win. Sarah has gone from the farm team to the big show and so has Bristol.

Chalk one up for the good guys!
