Randy Quaid says Canada has saved his life

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Randy Quaid said if it weren't for Canada's refugee system, he and his wife would be dead.

The actor made the comment Tuesday as he entered his immigration and refugee board hearing in Vancouver, where he and his wife Evi were picked up last month on an outstanding warrant in the United States.

The pair quickly claimed refugee status and their hearings have been conducted amid their bizarre claims of being hunted by what they call "Hollywood star whackers."

They say many of their friends have died under mysterious circumstances and believe they could be next on the hit list. Quaid is hoping to convince Canada's Immigration and Refugee board that he and his wife are targeted by Hollywood killers and thereby accomplish what no other American has ever done in Canada: Gain refugee status.

As a former resident of Vancouver, being the Berkeley of Canada, being a hotbed of anti-Americanism in the west coast Kanadastan..Quaid will get his refugee status. I’ll wager anyone who thinks not.

This is the same courthouse which tried to jail Mark Steyn for his “hate speech” when he wrote for McLean’s magazine about Muslims.

I heard that she is already a Canadian citizen so I guess he can get citizenship based on marriage. The way I heard it, they gave up $1 million bail over warrants for arrest for vandalism. That doesn’t compute in my head. They must be nuts.

I found another article that gave a list of the deaths, and made fun of the Quaids for being paranoid.

In some states you pay the bail bondsman 10%, he guarantees the rest. If that's the case, he may have "Dog" the bounty hunter on his ass.

That’s “other” parts of the country, not in the metropolitan areas. I was on the BC staff for the Conservative Party in 05-06 when Harper won the PM elections and we all concluded after the elections that Vancouver, like L.A., Chicago, Detroit etc is a lost cause.

I presume the judge will ask Randy why he thinks being in Vancouver will prevent the "Star Whackers" from following him over the border and finishing him off, if they're really determined to get him and his ditzy missus.

Does the "Star Whackers'" charter explicitly state that they may operate only in the lower 48, or do their passports have "Star Whacker" inscribed on them which might result in them being stopped at the border?

They should be real easy to track down. All the hit men have to do is phone around a few motels and ask if they've had an American couple staying there recently who ran off without paying their tab.
