Why They Don’t Need To ‘Touch Your Junk’ At Israeli Airports
Big Government ^ | 11-22-10 | Jeff Dunetz

Fighting against terrorism, an evil which rejects all the basic moral and legal norms of civilized society, is inherently difficult for liberal democracies such as the United States. It forces us to find the right balance between the protection of civil liberties on one hand and the prevention of violence on the other. It is clear that the latest TSA policy which gives passengers the Hobson’s choice of losing your dignity or staying home is not “balanced.”

Many of the issues in front of our policymakers have previously been faced by Israel, a country that has been under the threat of terrorist attack since its inception in 1948. We keep hearing why can’t we run our airport security the same way they do in Israel. Most people, however do not have a clear idea of what is that “Israeli way.”

We should copy them. Somebody is making money off the body scanners.

All flights to and from Israel are international, and everyone has a passport showing where they’ve been. That makes things a lot easier.

If you have ever looked into the eyes of a screener before an El Al flight, you know you are looking into the ultimate x-ray machine. The ultimate experience. They are trained to notice the smallest sign of anything amiss, and you know it. The only time I ever went away from a screening in a sweat. Relieved that I passed and as relieved that no one who was not honest would get past these trained professionals.

This is what we need in this country.

A very interesting article. Thanks for posting it. The Israeli security methods should be copied, but of course they won’t be!

I've done Israel security... I've done the naked body scanners... I haven't done the "OPT OUT" yet.

TSA; Opt Out

Profiling is a dirty word here. But its really looking at people’s behavior to understand who poses a threat. If you can intercept the right people ahead of time all the intrusive searches become redundant. Its not objects you need to look for but people who are terrorists. The TSA has gotten security screening exactly backward. But its unlikely to do the right thing until the American people demand it does so.

When I left Argentina in January, I was patted down (as was every passengers leaving EZE for JFK). The guy did not “touch my Junk” after I was told by very lovely young lady working security at EZE I was going to be patted down after she checked my shoes. She replied to my obvious disappointment to the fact she was not going to perform the pat-down by giving me a smile. This was in response to the underwear bomber.

When the foreign occupier employed the phrase 'fundamentally transforming America' two
years ago, that's precisely what he meant. Zer0 has no intention of going quietly.

It helps Israel that most of the tourists it sees are Jewish and very easy to screen, and much of the rest are serious Christians which are not much harder. The Muslim travelers tend to get a hard time. This would also tend to dissuade them from traveling to/from Israel directly, but rather via neighboring lands such as Egypt.

The people making money off the body scanners are Michael Chertoff and George Soros.

The first and last one was in 1969 and that one didn’t even get off the ground before the Israelis took care of business.

Coming Through Ben Gurion in 1984, I found myself with No Boarding pass, No Place to Stay, No Money, and simply my receipt for my ticket and my passport. This was because of a mix-up with the Tour Agent, because we had stayed in Jerusalem a week longer than the rest of the people on the tour.

I patiently explained this to the El-Al Security Guy, and suddenly burst into tears, realizing the desperation of my situation.

He looked me in the eyes, said, “TO HELL WITH YOUR AGENT, GO CATCH YOUR PLANE, RUN RUN RUN, GO!”, stamped my papers, and we ran across the runway, up the stairs, and onto the plane, just as they were closing the door.

The Sound System on the Plane was playing the Israeli Hit Song “HALLELUJAH”.

No Touchy Feely Necessary.

I didn’t think that they were overly harsh with me passing thru security. What did impress me is that as we entered the airport grounds we were stopped at a check point and question about why were were there and where had we been that day.
