but the scanners are not perfect——they will miss a lot of potential threats.

Yeah, like the threat to the 4th ammendment!

For the past six years at least, I’ve been carrying one of those miniature Swiss Army / Victorianox pocket knives in my backpack when I fly for business. For all that time it was NEVER seen during the scans until some eagle eye at INDY security saw ‘something’ in my bag, went through my little bag of office supplies and took it.

I protested that the blade was barely an inch...nope, he took it and walked over to the collected dangerous item bin. As I turned to leave the area, I saw him put it into his pocket.

TSA=Thieves Stealing All my neat stuff.

Speaking of second hand groping, read this:

[snipped]
“For those of you who fly and opt for the ‘pat down,’ you need to demand the TSA thugs change their gloves. I’ve been watching on the news how they operate. People are being searched [with] dirty gloves ... gloves that have been in crotches, armpits, touching people who may be ill, people who pick their noses. Do you want those gloves touching you?

“These thugs are protecting themselves from you. You need to be protected from them,” she wrote. “In a hospital, nursing home, in-home care, or even labs, that would never even be considered an option.” [snipped]

How about we demand to know what their probable cause is for a pat down?

Seriously, desiring to fly on a commercial flight cannot constitute any sort of reasonable suspicion to justify physical contact with passengers.

After 9-11, I saw various state airport commissions on ebay auctioning off confiscated knives, in bulk. For a while I did very good buying knives by the pound, until word got out. I was thrilled to have so many new models to add to my collection, and pissed to think that someone was losing their favorite knife. I know I hate losing mine. There were lots of your little penknives, and obvious fancy best man type wedding gifts, and dress knives and old heirlooms, and young boy cheapo knives, and none of them were ever going to be used to hijack anyone.

A demoralized people are easier to defeat because they have already been morally defeated. Having yourself exposed naked to strangers and/or having your private parts touched by strangers certainly demoralizes people on a deep personal level.

How often do you see these TSA clowns changing their gloves?

Really good point. Imagine the germs all over people that are being pressed by those gloves. Any kind of epidemic would surely be spread much faster. Yuk!!!

You have to wonder if the watchers were so mesmerized by looking at people’s private parts that they didn’t even notice the long metal blades. Or were they just sleeping on the job???
