Poll: Most Palestinians View Two States as Step toward Eradicating Israel

Much has justly been written about the Obama administration’s mishandling of Israeli-Palestinian talks. But it’s important to remember that the real barrier to an agreement isn’t flawed American diplomacy but rather the Palestinians’ refusal to accept Israel’s right to exist. Nothing better illustrates this fact than a stunning new poll by The Israel Project.

Like every other poll in recent years, TIP found that a strong majority of Palestinians (60 percent) accept a two-state solution. This unvarying finding is often cited as proof that Palestinians do, in fact, accept Israel’s existence.

But unlike any other poll I’ve ever seen, TIP thought to ask the all-important follow-up question: is the goal a permanent two-state solution, or is the goal “to start with two states but then move to it all being one Palestinian state?”

Only 30 percent chose the first option, while fully 60 percent deemed two states a mere stepping-stone to Israel’s ultimate eradication. In other words, the PLO’s “Phased Plan” of 1974 is alive and kicking.

Trivial point. I just remember what the map looked like when I was a kid. Most of the Arab states’ borders are arbitrary lines drawn across empty desert anyway. Some of them go back to the Sykes-Picot agreement during WWI.

I found a map put out by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs online along the lines of your map (that is, to show Transjordan as detached from the original mandate area), but with the borders I remember as the earlier Jordan-Iraq and Jordan-Saudi Arabia borders. Apparently there was an agreement in 1965 whereby Jordan gave up some land in the far southeast in return for getting a longer coastline on the Gulf of Aqaba.

The Golan Heights wasn't part of the British mandate--I don't think it became an issue until the Syrians started firing down on Israel from there.

Of course they do. The "Palestinians" have always believed in the Path to (Israel in) Pieces!

The so-called Roadmap to Peace is CFR international law garbage.

You are exactly right on the Golan.

I would never give it back either.

Works both ways and now Israel can fire with direct line of sight to the other side.

It’s funny though, if you go look up some pics of the Golan you will see border fencing and they are hilarious looking.

Israel on side and Lebanon on the other.

This has always been obvious to anyone with any knowledge of Islam, the PLO and their overtly expressed endgame. So why does it seem to be such a revelation now. Israel may as well just accept it’s own death if she opts for the two state solution. Israel’s only hope is victory and the Bible’s revelations.
