Is this author not computing something?

You got that correct. He is doing a lot of assuming. The voters in DE have spoken to COD in 06, 08 and 10 about her as their Senator. She ran in the General election in those years for Senator and was rejected. Some people don’t get the message. Now she may can be a force behind the scenes to help someone more acceptable to the voters of DE but she isn’t the one.

Oh please. In 2006 and 2008 she was a sacrificial lamb. And in 2010, the national party ignored her...the only contest that counted remotely was 2010...the other two were not serious.

deport blathers: The voters in DE have spoken to COD in 06, 08 and 10 about her as their Senator. She ran in the General election in those years for Senator and was rejected. Some people don’t get the message.

You mean like Ronald Reagan did not get the message? Where did this silly idea come from that one must win the first time they run for office? The opposite is the norm. Your assumption is silly. Ronald Reagan did not win the Presidency the first time he ran.

In 2006, Christine was not the nominee of the Party. JAN TING WAS THE GOP INSIDER'S HAND-PICKED CHOICE. JAN TING LOST 29% TO 70% TO TOM CARPER. Two years later the official GOP nominee for US Senate was part of the campaign for Barack Obama for President, and was kicked out of the Republican Party. So the GOP insider's pick for US Senate campaigned for the Democrat two years later. Way to go, GOP elites. You can really pick 'em.

In 2008, CHristine was the official nominee of the Republican Party for US Senate. Joe Biden spent around $4.8 million in the US Senate race against CHristine O'Donnell, who spent around $118,000.

Christine O'Donnell won about the same percentage of the vote as John McCain won in Delaware for President. So Christine O'Donnell equaled a moderate with decades of experience and name ID in the US Senate, John McCain.

In 2010, the party engaged in the most savage and indefensible attacks on one of the primary candidates. This attracted national media attention, because journalists love stories of Republicans attacking Republicans. GOP moderates destroyed the election in Delaware. They failed to engage in voter registration and party building. And they did the Democrats' work for them.
