When HPD are sent out to write revenue tickets instead of addressing violent crime and property theft, the rates will rise. I was robbed at gunpoint this year, just up the road from where they were running a DWI/inspection stickers crackdown (multiple police cars and crew).
First officer I told listened to my tale and got the hell out of there. Second officer I told took down my report. Never did appear in the list of crime incidents (there is an online map).
While they’d been running a checkpoint operation there for weeks, after the report of armed criminals in the area, they pulled up shop and haven’t returned.
There is a substation on Montgomery in the Acres area that is behind my neighborhood. So cops frequently come and go.
At the intersection of TC Jester and Victory, there was a car accident, a very obvious car accident. The cop car coming north on TC Jester turned right on Victory and completely ignored the accident in the intersection.
