The Japanese Defense Ministry and Self-Defense Forces are on heightened alert following a deadly artillery exchange Tuesday between North and South Korea.
“Regardless of what occurs, attacking another nation’s soil cannot be tolerated,” Senior Vice Minister of Defense Jun Azumi told reporters Tuesday night, referring to North Korea’s artillery shelling of a South Korean island.
