'Dancing With the Stars' Finale with Bristol Palin Mon 8pm Tues-9 Live Thread! VOTE 800-868-3407
WJRT-TV ^ | 11/22/10

Tonight is the final chance for the three remaining contestants on "Dancing With the Stars" to impress the viewers at home.

As we've seen this season in particular, high scores from the judges may be nice. But, it's the viewers who matter because their votes can make an impact.

Going into tonight's season finale are Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey & Bristol Palin.

Getting to this point wasn't always a smooth trip. There were some tense moments at the production office for "Dancing With the Stars."

ABC says a white powder in an envelope was delivered to the office this past Friday. It turned out to be talcum powder.

But, before they knew that, hazardous materials officials with the city of Los Angeles, fire department, police and FBI arrived at the studio lot where the ABC show airs.

This comes just days after the shock that viewers have put low-scorer Bristol Palin in the finals of "Dancing With the Stars," while voting off Brandy, who's had some of the highest scores from the judges.

Watch tonight's show at 8 p.m. and the results show Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.

I’m thinking they just said that. I’ve voted for polls and such that have those measures in place and they let you know right away that you have already voted. That isn’t happening on their website voting.

They claim they have people looking at those email addys and IP addresses and eliminating ones that look like they have a high number of votes coming from them. I highly doubt that they are doing that. The number of votes coming in must be massive and to have the results by the next night?

Also they say right on the website that others in the household can vote as well. How do they know how many people are in the household? How many from the same household do they allow? How do they know they are not deleting legit votes?

I think that they said that just to either discourage Palin multiple votes or because they just plain do not want to sound like they are encouraging it.

If they were committed to one vote one person they would use the same software designed for that purpose and not let people vote 5 times.

Exactly. Jennifer Grey should be the pro dancer half of a team.

It’s five votes per phone line. Totally legal. If someone exceeds that, there is a recording that says that you have reached the maximum number on that phone. It then encourages you to vote online. I vote the maximum on two phones (and my husband does the same on his two cell phones), and I do the text votes, as well, but I haven’t done the online voting.

Bristol is the most improved Dancer on the Show, as much as I like Jennifer Grey, she is a Pro Dancer she was in one of the most popular dance movies ever.... JENNIFER IS ALREADY A PRO DANCER...

Kind of a lie. Grey danced in one movie twenty three years ago and a commercial.

Voting for Grey as much as I can.

She dance in on movie over twenty years ago and that makes her a professional dancer?

No, this is like what it is - a popularity contest in which the winner isn't going to influence the destruction of our country. People who think this is a serious competition don't understand the nature of the show. It is 50/50 between judged votes and "fans" it's just that simple. And in this case Bristol deserve it for the fact that she started with NO experience and, according to the shows producer, has shown more improvement than any other similar armature in 11 seasons. If it were strictly about dancing ability, then it would have been completely unfair to pit someone like Brandy or Jennifer who both have loads of dance and performance experience against someone like Bristol for whom the closet thing to dance experience she has was when she was running the tires in high school FOOTBALL practice. The only chance a total amateur has is if they have a strong enough fan base to overcome lower judge's scores. Kyle was also not as good a dancer as Brandy, yet he also beat her to make the finals, but we don't hear any complaints about him!

Truth be told, I think the producers of this show picked Bristol for the show because I honestly think they thought she would stink and be an embarrassment to her mom.

She has busted her ass on this and was able to improve enough to score solid 9s! I feel bad for Brandy, but this isn't the first time nor will it be the last that a better dancer got the hook because they did not have enough viewer votes. Brandy is no amateur - she's a professional and will get over this loss with her next Emmy!

You mean I can't criticize Bristol's lame dancing and others can lie about Grey being a professional dancer?

Jennifer is a professional, and should not even have been with any of the rest. Bristol and Kyle have made the greatest improvements, just like Donny Osmond did.

This is about the best couple, one partner amateur and one professional. With Derek and Jennifer you get two professionals, one is just several times more professional than the other.

I have been watching the show since mid season 3, and part of it's charm is that you can take a nonprofessional yutz and put them with a great, obsessed trainer like Derek, and the transformation is fantastic to behold.

This show would be boring as hell if it were all professionals, and since it has had some really klutzy, goofy dancing in the past it is fun also. The Dancers all seem to develop a kinship.

Jennifer is a whiner, and she is in jeopardy of a serious neck injury doing these strenuous dances. She cries and complains and you know she is in pain, but she should just keep quiet or move on. Every week I hope she does not get serious injuries, and I cringe when she dances.

Maybe you should read this comment from Mark's mother who is an international adjudicator in dance competitions. Remember that Carrie-Ann is from HI.

Schwimmer wasn't the only parent who had issues with Monday night's show. Shirley Ballas, Mark's mother and herself a gifted professional dance teacher, came down on Maks' side. "I must say, I didn't agree with some of the judging today," she said. "I think Carrie Ann was a bit off. There were some biased feelings there against Maks, and also with Bristol [Palin, Mark's partner]. This was probably Bristol's best week when it came to technique. She didn't put a foot wrong. She did extremely well. But she can't please that woman. I don't know what it is that Carrie Ann wants to see from her. The girl is improving week by week, and one positive remark could be quite nice."
Ballas is a proud mom, but not too proud to point out when her son makes a misstep. "I think it was Mark who went wrong in the samba, not Bristol. She seemed to know where she was going. He made the mistake. And I think when you're looking from the outside as an experienced professional, you should be able to see that the error came from him and not from Bristol."
