The two Republicans whose names came up most often on the NR cruise? Sarah Palin and Chris Christie.
In my interactions with only a fraction of the 700+ NR cruisegoers mostly older, mostly well-off, passionate about politics, and many heavily involved with the tea parties I found about two-thirds wildly enthusiastic about Sarah Palin; you could hear the gasps when Scott Rasmussen predicted she would not be the 2012 Republican nominee. Most of the remaining one-third said that while they personally liked Palin, they didnt want to see her run in 2012, or anytime soon. An isolated few didnt seem to like Palin much at all.
I was struck by how many Palin fans agreed with me that resigning the governorship, while understandable, is a serious misstep for any aspiring president. If you want to govern, it is best to demonstrate that you can govern.
The Palin family has taken over your television, between Sarah Palins Alaska on TLC and Bristol Palin dancing up a storm on Dancing With the Stars. Youre also seeing Palin on the cover of People and other non-political magazines. Its odd to see a Republican begin to master the domination of pop culture that Obama practiced in 2007 and 2008, and this is certainly a way to keep Palin enthusiasts at a fever pitch. But Im not sure this approach gets her where she wants to go, or at least whether it wins over the folks who arent on board with her already.

Every RINO candidate is still pushing the anti-American, globalist, Free Traitor BS that destroyed our economy in the first place.
But a lot of conservatives are not eager for a Palin candidacy.
Sorry I dont deal with strawman arguments I leave that to the libs and Obama.
Conservatives are for limited government and reversing all this overreach by government so to say they dont support her is foolish.
That is a strange and inaccurate way to describe Governor Palin.
Palin's rise to national prominence began when she became the youngest Governor, and first female Governor in Alaskan history, and her defeating the sitting Republican Governor in the primary, and the previous Democrat Governor in the general, to do it, people notice things like that.
The Weekly Standard people did personally meet the Governor when they were in Juneau, and that was followed by articles on the rising conservative star who was already making national news with her battles and stances on issues of national prominence, such as the "bridge to nowhere".
I will probably get it for Christmas and read it over the holidays.
but the votes?
I think a cruise is about as far from the popular sentiments of the American people this last election (and likely the next) as you can get from here to Timbucktwo or Timbuckthree.
Not better than obama, anybody BUT obama, and by definition, they would be better than obama.
And in responding to you, they've gotten even lower.
“Just taking her at her word, all spin aside.”
No, you are a transparent Palin hater that is failing in an attempt to box Palin in on your absurd interpretation of what Palin said.
Palin stated she would consider a run and that if a “pro Constitution conservative... ran AND... COULD DO THE JOB”, she’d support them.
Pence and DeMint with 2% support won’t meet that standard.
Nice try, and I predict that you will flail away months from now saying Palin didn’t keep her word. Honestly, you people try pathetic stuff like this and think people would fall for it?

Your DeMint Derangement Syndrome is showing, spin and troll to your heart's content but her words are clear. Both DeMint, and Pence, can "do the job".

It's not strange and isn't inaccurate. Kristol's hand in making her known nationally is not in dispute. It's not a bad thing either.
For the record, and since you brought it up, she supported the Bridge to Nowhere when she was running for office in October 2006 (before she was against it). The project was officially cancelled in August 2007, after the Alaskan cruise hosted by The Weekly Standard. However, the controversial issue of funding The Bridge to Nowhere rose to "national prominence" when it was contentiously debated in Congress in October 2005 regarding the 2006 National Appropriations Bill, before she took office, in December 2006. It then became an issue again during the 2008 campaign. Hope this helps...
Yes Palin’s election and her fight and victory to kill the “bridge to nowhere” was getting coverage, the “bridge to nowhere” was a national story.
If you kept up with the news, then you were aware of Governor Palin.
Some of the people of the Weekly Standard met with the Governor when they were in Juneau, and they wrote articles on her in the following years, but your phrasing about the cruise was odd, and misleading.
Again, she was for it before she was against and the fight over it occurred before she was elected Governor.

I kept up with the news and became aware of her in 2007 from Bill Kristol (and Fred Barnes) and his mention of the cruise and his impression of her on FOX News, as did many others. He was an early strong supporter of hers.
The cruise had nothing to do with anything, they met with the Governor whether they came on a boat, or a plane, it is the emphasis on cruise that is so weird, the way you use it makes it sound like the Governor was on a cruise rather than in her office at the Alaskan Governor’s office.
Palin did support the bridge in the campaign, but as Governor she is credited with killing the project.
Palin killed the bridge to nowhere, just as the Alaskan Democrat party used to acknowledge, until they removed it from their website when she was chosen as veep.
Just taking her at her word, all spin aside.

Bears repeating...no pun intended.

LOL, it's just a cruise and the only emphasis on it was a point of fact, that the cruise hosted by The Weekly Standard was how Kristol, Barnes and Gerson met her in Alaska.
FTR, she "officially" killed it after she was for it and after Congress removed the earmark for the bridges while leaving the money for Alaska, which was used by the state. For all intents and purposes it was dead already.
Bears repeating...
People know I’m both a DeMint and Pence fan. (But 2% nationally is the reality)
People also know you are a PDSr.
People know that you’re DDSer, and they also know that he can do the job, Pence as well. When either one declares, hopefully she will stick to her word.
“that the cruise hosted by The Weekly Standard was how Kristol, Barnes and Gerson met her in Alaska.”
It isn’t how they met her, it was the transportation they took to her state.
Not only did the Alaskan Democrats blame/credit Palin for killing the bridge, Senator DeMint credited her with it.
“Yes, Palin Did Stop That Bridge” By JIM DEMINT
“Mrs. Palin used her veto pen to slash more local projects than any other governor in the state’s history. She cut nearly 10% of Alaska’s budget this year, saving state residents $268 million. This included vetoing a $30,000 van for Campfire USA and $200,000 for a tennis court irrigation system. She succinctly justified these cuts by saying they were “not a state responsibility.”
snip
Mrs. Palin cut Alaska’s federal earmark requests in half last year, one of the strongest moves against earmarks by any governor. It took real leadership to buck Alaska’s decades-long earmark addiction.
snip
Mrs. Palin also killed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in her own state. Yes, she once supported the project: But after witnessing the problems created by earmarks for her state and for the nation’s budget, she did what others like me have done: She changed her position and saved taxpayers millions. Even the Alaska Democratic Party credits her with killing the bridge.
When the Senate had its chance to stop the Bridge to Nowhere and transfer the money to Katrina rebuilding, Messrs. Obama and Biden voted for the $223 million earmark, siding with the old boys’ club in the Senate. And to date, they still have not publicly renounced their support for the infamous earmark.
Mrs. Palin has proven courageous by taking on big spenders in her own party. In March of this year, the Anchorage Daily News reported that, “Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens is aggravated about what he sees as Gov. Sarah Palin’s antagonism toward the earmarks he uses to steer federal money to the state.”
snip
Mrs. Palin is one of the strongest antiearmark governors in America. If more governors around the country would do what she has done, we would be much closer to fixing our nation’s fiscal problems than we are.”
In the old clip you linked to she was reading from a teleprompter.
You make things up to support your point of view.
There is no evidence that either one can win a presidential primary, but it doesn't really matter, because Palin will decide who and what she intended with her statement, and when her internal criteria have been met, or not, not you.
You are clinging to, and obsessing over nothing.
