What is also interesting, are those that believe this was merely an aircraft contrail claim these contrails can be seen daily, on a routine basis...All over the country.

If this is the case, why are they not providing video of them on a daily basis, so we can see the similarities as in the Southern California case?

You'd think we would have been inundated with similar video...daily...hourly, which depict simple contrails appearing as missiles.

I'd like to see this video.

Probably because it is GEOMETRICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to provide a video shot at sunset where a very low sun illuminates a high-altutude airline contrail from the side instead of from beneath.

Uh, you realize Southern Californian is lined with mountain peaks in excess of 7,000 feet, in addition the fact that in this region at ANY given time there are probably a dozen news coppers and fixed wing aircraft in the sky...

You do understand this, right?

I live here, drag. :^)

Granted, if contrails that looked just like missiles! were even remotely common, you'd figure there's be plenty of footage by now. That said: the SUN alone will prevent such a duplicate "illusion." Elevation of the mountains and numbers of choppers and planes in the sky have zero relationship to the directional lighting cast by a west-setting sun on clouds, high-altitude airplane contrails, and missile plumes.

The angle of the sun -- very low and to the west -- tells the viewer that the object in the video is heading northwest. If it was a high altitude straight-and-level contrail, the BOTTOM of it would be illuminated by a sun below the horizon. Because it is a vertical plume veering northwest, the SIDE of it, which is heading AWAY from the viewpoint of the camera, is illuminated from below the horizon. The majority of the plume as seen in the video is in shadow because the sun is on the other side of it. Not beneath it, but on the other side of it. It's vertical, not horizontal.

FYI - Plane contrail at that point was at 33,000-36,000 feet. That is higher then Mt Everest. Also looking at the bottom of the supposed contrail from the perspective of the helicopter crew.
