Why would their relationship be strained?

It's tough on both mother and daughter when the daughter gets pregnant at a young age.

There's disappointment from Mom (no matter how much they support their daughter) and the daughter is trying to show that they can be an adult and raise their child....even though they are just a child themselves.

Definitely puts a strain, evn, as I said, they supported Bristol and helped her.
