as profits dry up for the Airlines, they will demand and force a correction to this insanity

The airlines can't do anything about this.
It's a federal law - the only ones who can put a stop to it are Congress.
They had their chance last week and listened to the weasle TSA king and did nothing.

Basically, we're screwed. No commercial flying.

The Airlines CAN do something about this. They can pressure the individual airports to opt-out of TSA coverage, and have the airports hire contractors just like before the tsa existed.

This way they can have some say in who is working there and how customers are “handled”.

Airports don’t want to work with the airlines?, not a problem, move their operations to more customer friendly airports.

There is no logic to any of this. This whole thing is simply a bitch-slap by nobama and the outgoing dems to show us they can.
