“always” marginalized happens to be historically inaccurate.

My boss happened to have the world’s best privated collection of pre-Hitler pamphlets, leaflets, broadsides, posters, etc.

He noted that it was the flakiest

MOST FRINGE groups

WHO FIRST

AND MOST ACCURATELY

SAID WHO HITLER WAS AND WHAT HE WOULD BECOME

AND WHAT HE WOULD DO.

Scoff as you will . . . awareness and knowledge are both wiser than uninformed, rank egotistical ignorant scoffing.

BTW, I don’t know if you are aware or not that

THERE ARE FREEPERS

with solid information from super reliable sources and job categories who know beyond a shadow of a doubt what the plume was from . . . yet . . .

who dare not say much on a public forum.

Gee, that’s swell, but it has nothing to do with this fantasy “missile”. And you look so sane using all caps, really...

Twilight zone...

ALL CAPS

are one of my trade-marks as FR’s resident Chief-Loon.

Besides, I enjoy them with the screen 4’ from my eyes.

Morning, Cicero. I am late to the thread as usual.

I have two other ideas on this.

One, which I mentioned yesterday, was this.

How about an Israeli missile test?

It'd explain why the DoD said the US was never in danger; it'd explain why the Navy didn't go apesh*t; it would explain the direction of the launch; and the non-notification of airlines.

Yes, I *know* Iran is much closer to Israel than that. But if Israel had a long-range sub-based missile, they'd want to test it in a fashion and a place that *didn't* scream "Israel has a long-range option" to all of its foes.

And with longer-range missiles, Israel's sea-based deterrent is "out of range" of Israel's enemies in the Middle East.

Another possibility is based off of an article I ran across yesterday, claiming that the missile was a Chicom sub-launched missile, and that there was another contrail in the picture, showing an *unsuccessful* intercept by another missile (presumably ours), upon which the first missile made a course adjustment and kept going.

What if this one is only *half* right -- and that there WAS an unsuccessful intercept, but that both the original missile and the interceptor were *ours*? In other words, that this was a planned test, not of a missile launch, but of sea-based interceptors?

Far-fatched? Maybe -- I'm not an avid reader of anything like the Jane's Defense books, and I don't have the contacts of a Tom Clancy.

My suggestion here, is that we had a clandestine test of a sea-based missile interceptor which would be put on some of our subs, which tail foreign subs (say Nork or Iranian).[*] These subs would only have 1 or 2 missiles to launch, so that if we shot a torpedo, both missiles would've been fired before we can sink it, so taking out the missiles is the better bet.

So we have a missile launch, followed by an interceptor launch, which fails.

There is no filing of notification with the airlines, since we assume the missile is going to get shot down almost immediately anyway. And when the intercept goes wrong, well, the DoD can choose a scandal over not protecting us (which will hit Obama hard than the Navy, so they don't mind), or letting our enemies know both that a) we are looking at sub-based missile defense and that b) we suck at it.

Just a little more tinfoil hat, to keep my bored mind occupied, on a Sunday morning.

Cheers!

[*] the idea being that Chicoms would launch a whole SALVO of missiles, and our attack sub would just sink the f*cker in that case, since if the Chinese have launched like that, the sh*t's already hit the fan anyway.

Yes, all that is possible. Except, I would say, the Israeli speculation. Israel would not trust Obama to keep a lid on it. Obama hates Israel. And Gates pretty much does what Obama wants. If Israel wanted to test it, I think they’d do it somewhere else—in mid ocean, or off of Africa, anywhere but off Obamaland.

What is underwhelmingly unimpressive and unfunny,

to me,

is the hostility skewered toward fellow FREEPERS out of pride, ego, vain glorious pontificating etc.

There seems to be little appreciation of the complexities rampant in modern life in such realms.

Some things are simple. Some are not.

Some things which seem simple are not. Some things which seem complex are simple.

Then throw in all the smoke, mimrrors, psyc ops, disinformation . . .

only arm-chair idiots make emphatic pronouncements—particularly out of their areas of expertise.

>>only arm-chair idiots make emphatic pronouncements—particularly out of their areas of expertise.<<

I agree. Thing about this is that the definition of “expert” seems to be rather slippery. There is no diploma that I am aware of called “Batchelor of con trails”. One guy thinks he knows because he’s lived by an airport a long time. :)

An “Expert” in a field is often simply someone who has studied and observed it for a long time. Being someone that has witnessed a lot of missile launches can make one an “expert” in the shape of missile trails. One that has observed con trails for a long time can make them an “expert” of con trails. But the key to both is not just observation, but STUDY of what they observe.

And actually, sometimes one with knowledge CAN make emphatic announcements, like an astronomy hobbyist noticing a couple of people pointing at Venus and saying “Look, a UFO!”.

Um, no. It’s Venus...

Likewise with this contrail. At first glance, it does look like a missile plume, but when one (who is experienced in the examination and study of contrails) examines the photos of this one in context, and compares to other contrails and aircraft flight patterns, it doesn’t just “look” like an airplane contrail. It becomes obvious.

I believe the raw footage would make it pretty darned clear but, alas, that is not forthcoming. What is called the raw footage is heavily edited to the point of only asking questions rather than answering them.
