If I remember correctly Washington's Officers were King Movement types. Hamilton was a very strong Executive power groupie, a King in name only, unless I read my History wrong.

Washington's Officers were a fairly scurrilous lot, some of them, due to necessity, but to group them into a "Movement" is an anachronism. At one point some of them sought to undermine Washington's leadership, but his personal virtue and stature sent them away abashed and ashamed.

Regardless who was under Washington, George Washington didn't seek that power.
He was very reluctant to be the CIC of the Continental Army, and he was called the reluctant President because he didn't want that power, he only took that position out of duty and loyalty of the United States.
