Photos provide clues for Chinese Type 056 corvette design
By Ted Parsons and Mrityunjoy Mazumdar

The first images of a probable new corvette design for the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) have emerged following a visit by the deputy commander of the Hong Kong military garrison to a local college.
Photographs published on the Hong Kong University website showed Major General Wang Junli presenting a model of the vessel, which has an estimated displacement of between 1,000 tons and 1,800 tons and bears the pennant number 056, to the institution's vice chancellor during the visit on 4 November.
The presentation by a local military commander suggests that the new Type 056 corvette if this is indeed its designation may be intended to replace or supplement the PLAN's six Houjian-class (Type 037/2) fast attack craft (FACs). Armed with YJ-1 (C-801) surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs), these 528-ton craft have been based in Hong Kong since 1997.
According to Chinese sources, however, the new vessel is set to replace the Houxin-class (Type 037/G) attack craft and older Type 053S light frigates. Observers of the PLAN have known for some time that the service was planning an extensive construction programme for a corvette-sized vessel. This involved the procurement of well over two dozen units from several shipyards across China along the lines of the Houbei-class [Type 022] catamaran

While we’re busy working toward “understanding”, we continue to lose ground.
Every day.
Every month, we send to China via just the bilateral deficit in our trade balance.
The equivalent, one direction, cash money. Of four Reagan-class aircraft carriers.
One. Every. Week.
Does anyone with a functioning brain, believe for one minute that is not exactly what all that money and manufacturing will in fact, be used to build?
Things will turn around when the American worker decides that he is going to make the best possible product and COMPETE with the Chinese, Indian, Taiwanese, Japanese, etc. WORKER in productivity per dollar. When he tells both UNION and Corporate management that he is going to COMPETE with and beat foreign competition.
Things will turn around when the American voter chooses legislators and educators who focus on production of quality goods and the worth & dignity of people who MAKE things. Who are all of our movies and TV shows about? People who play games; people who sing & dance; people who sue other people & companies; people who rob & kill; people who catch those who rob & kill; people who get the people who rob & kill out of legal jeopardy.. The list goes on...
Make “Shop Class” mandatory in all years of middle school & high school.
One hour a week, in all schools & all grades, show episodes of “Dirty Jobs” or “Modern Marvels”.
Talk eBay & Amazon, Best Buy & Walmart into having “Made in America” sections. Let US put our money where our mouths are about Buy American.

I don't know what bee in your bonnet you have. I NEVER mentioned anything about the trade deficit with China being ONLY the work of the Dems. In fact, my point was only tangentially related to trade. Save the visceral reactions for someone else.
Inconvenient facts, can be visceral.
We are speeding toward catastrophe.
Meanwhile, too many on our side, think this is some reality show version of “Atlas Shrugged”.
It’s not. Atlas is gone. Wang now owned the railroads, and all the factories.
There is no Gulch. We need to wake up, and do something to stop this.
Now.
OK, chief, you made your points. Now what’s your plan?
I would pay extra to buy something made in Michigan or Ohio; that is currently made in China.
I pay more at the cash register, but am not funding the development of China's blue water navy.
How can we re industrialize the upper Midwest?
Simple.
Eliminate the IRS. Abolish every single income tax.
And implement a 100% import tariff.
Our entire national budget, would be paid. Then as manufacturing RETURNED to America - resulting in reduced tariff revenue.
We can work on reducing the size of that national budget. :)
If you want American Manufacturing to be globally competitive, the only way to do so would be to reduce the average American worker’s real purchasing power to around 10K USD per year. Everything else is simply mental masturbation.
