Purely anectodal, but whenever I shop at my nearest Wal-Mart or Target, the place is jammed packed with Spanish-speaking people, families with lots of small children. The numbers have increased dramatically the past few years. Most of the fast food places around here are staffed with young Hispanic people who speak English rather poorly. Where are they all coming from?
I really wonder how many people are crossing the border every night.
I looked it up a few years ago, it's astonishing; IIRC it's around 10,000 or so.

Indeed. I have two young sons who can't find work. Parents used to tell their kids to study hard, otherwise they'd "end up flippin' burgers...." now those entry level jobs are no longer available to the native-born workforce.
