Just take a look at the US government’s response to unions and strikes in the 19th Century. Not to mention their response to the Bonus Army in the early 20th. It has been done. Repeatedly.
To name a few, Whiskey Rebellion, Bonus Army, WV Mine Wars and desegregation in Little Rock, Arkansas.
To my knowledge only dictators have turned their military against its own people. But that has been when the military was largely corrupted, which is not the case with the US military. As I think another poster suggested, 0bummer might leave himself open to a coup if he ever attempted such an action.
