The exemption being distorted by the press relations flack was designed to benefit soldiers on active duty in the US military. The statutory language is clear on that point.
It is a real stretch to suggest that Rahm’s service in the White House was the equivalent of serving in combat.
I guess we will see soon enough. My bet is Rahm will be eligible to run for Mayor.
