Hopefully not a defector headed to China...

More like big area and rough terrain. Also it happened last night and I would guess there was little searching last night in the dark.

You’ve been reading too many sci-fi/thriller novels....

The F-22 can fly anywhere, at any moment, limited only by fuel.

I doubt any Raptors can be stolen, there must be an anti-hijack mode in the software, I would think there must have been a decision at some point to prevent this aircraft from ever being stolen. That any attemp would cause it to land or even destroy itself.

Its probably a cold weather issue, icing maybe, they will probably find the pilot cold but alive, its not really really cold yet.

My first thought exactly. Furthermore, if it is found to be in the hands of a foreign government then engage the self destruct.

Limited by fuel is the equation.

I still think its an overly complicated aircraft...as usual.

The more you have in technology the more the chances of the gremlims attacking.

Kinda odd it was a lone Raptor, the training sorties are always two aircraft if not four.

I just found this;

"The Alaska Air National Guard said the missing plane was flying with another fighter, which also lost contact with the jet."

We lost a good friend this way, and I had the same hope. But then, if he were alive he would have set the whole mountain on fire.
Awful.

None of the B-29s that wound up in Russia were flown by traitors or nutjobs.

Well if we start selling f-22’s to some or all allies next year, you’ll know the truth of the Alaska story then.

And how do you track an aircraft that doesn't show up on radar.

They do show up on RADAR and that's no secret. The Air Force has conned a lot of gullible dupes into believing that they don't.
