Time after time, so much that a pattern emerged, the RNC would not support (or only reluctantly support) a conservative that won in the primary.

Steele was a blind man leading the blind and listening to the establishment wonks.

The “tea party” is basically the rank and file of the party.

We need someone who is in synch with the “tea party”, we need someone who is spoiling for a fight, and we need someone who is in particular prepared to take on election fraud. That is one of the biggest threats I see now. We are starting to pull together our communications networks, we are getting our philosophical focus, but election fraud is killing us.

In the past we’ve let it go for the sake of, what? I don’t know. To avoid a fight. We’ve got to fight back now, and we need an RNC leader who understands the problem and doesn’t mind throwing a fit on nation-wide TV and dragging people in front of a grand jury.

“This is Rove and Slick Willard’s people trying to stage a coup at the RNC.”

Your NUTS.

The RNC lost the support of its base in the 2006 Congressional elections and in McPain’s fiasco of a campaign in 2008.

Independent and Conservative Republicans, and the GOP grass roots, AND NOT Rove, then looked to their own resources and NOT the RNC for how they would win in 2010 - which THEY, not the RNC, and NOT Rove did.

The RNC, before and during Steele’s tenure decided it was the party of the RINO, not the Republican Party.

Maybe its time the Republican Party retake the reins at the RNC.

Much as I hated Steele every time he opened his mouth, I’m far from certain that he’s the real problem. I think he’s just the figurehead sitting out there being a visible target for our ire.

I think Steele was a pretty good guy, but that when he was given the job he was told what to do by the guys behind the scenes. And, unfortunately, he did what he was told.

What we really need to do is to clean out all the Karl Roves behind the scenes. All the Republican professionals. Read Sarah’s “Going Rogue” if you want to get a pretty good glimpse of what these stupid loser handlers are really like.

And I think we need someone like Sarah in charge to weed them out. She did it in Alaska—although now Murkowski is back again like a zombi with a misplaced stake. And how did Murkowski get back? Because the apparatus is still loaded with people who wanted her back. The Corrupt Bastards Club.

In the midterms I gave no money to the RNC because of some of the RINO candidates they supported.

I did, however, make 30 donations directly to 25 different candidates I personally liked as well as 5 additional donations to PACs that seemed to have their act together. Only two of the individual candidates were in my home state.

I had to make a spreadsheet to keep track of it.

And yes, Free Republic was on my list...WOO-HOO!

I can tell you unless things change, it will be a long time before the RNC gets a another dime from me.

RNC lurkers I hope you are listening. The electorate is wide awake now. You will have to earn my money from now on and frankly, you have been doing a fairly crappy job of it.

Your NUTS.

You are ignorant.

All one has to do is look at the numbers to see where the RNC fundraising went. We're not talking about the small donors donating to individual candidates here. We're talking about the big ones who usually donate to the RNC and added to the insane fundraising numbers of Rove's Crossdressing group.

I'll bet you didn't even bother to do the two seconds of research it took to find out that Gentry Collins was Romney's Iowa coordinator in 2008.

Maybe its time the Republican Party retake the reins at the RNC.

Follow the advice of guys like Gentry Collins and you'll be doing exactly the opposite.

Goodbye RNC. You represent betrayal. You represent a Trojan Horse for the DNC. You will not receive a single penny from my wallet. I will continue to donate to individual candidates as I see fit.

DITTO that. Until Steele is gone they won’t get a cent from me. I think they finally got the message after I sent every single thing they sent to me, back to them, with a snotty letter and I used their prepaid envelope. They can KMA. Get Steele out of there.

Being such a GOP conspiracy buff, I’ll bet you can’t even realize that someone like Mr. Collins, no matter both you and I might think of him, has ANYTHING right about Mr. Steele’s tenure at the RNC. That’s too bad.

Sorry, Mr. Gentry is who he is. YOU can impart any motive you want to him. That won’t remove any element of objective and factual opinion he may have about Mr. Steele; opinions shared in a broad cross section of the GOP; not just your “Rove cabal”.

It has less to do with Michael Steele and everything to do with former RNC supporters sending the RNC the message: NO MORE RINOs!

I’m sorry you are incapable of the critical thinking necessary to grasp the situation here. Arguing with you is obviously pointless, so I won’t bother to continue.

“This is Rove and Slick Willard’s people trying to stage a coup at the RNC. I have no great love for Steele, but if anyone is to blame for the lousy fundraising at the RNC, it’s Rove and his American Crossdressers siphoning off huge amounts of regular Republican donors.”

Yep, no question about it.

That’s exactly what happened, we got mad and decided to choose our candidates ourselves.

"siphoning off huge amounts of regular Republican donors"

Many here on FR have indicated that they will not support RNC until its policies change. Support is being given direct to individual campaigns.

It’s both. One doesn’t preclude the other.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the people who donate huge amounts of money. Ed Gillespie and Rove have syphoned off many of the big money donors to their own group.

There’s plenty to dislike Steele for, but we should be very leery of his replacement, as Rove and Gillespie (and by extension, Romney) are surely going to want one of their people in there.

Did we donate to Karl Rove’s American Crossdresser group instead? Because their fundraising numbers were through the roof. If it wasn’t us (and it wasn’t), who was it that did all that donating?

Some of the state organizations are run by people little different than Democrats.

I think we need a serious blood purge before breaking up the party.
