A House ethics subcommittee found longtime Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel guilty Tuesday on multiple violations of House rules.
On Monday, Rangel, D-New York, walked out of the House ethics subcommittee trial, complaining he has not had sufficient time to hire a new legal team to respond to alleged ethics allegations.
The subcommittee rejected Rangel's request to delay the hearing until a new defense team is assembled.
Rangel faced 13 allegations, include failing to pay taxes on a home in the Dominican Republic, misuse of a rent-controlled apartment for political purposes and improper use of government mail service and letterhead.

Wow - and only a week after he was re-elected...
One down, 200 to go
So, what’s the penalty? No free luches for a month?
Predicting a major slap on the wrist.
Maybe they will let Barney Frank ‘bitch slap’ him? ;-)
The penalty? A sternly worded letter from this joke of a Committee.
Rangel will get his hands slapped with a silk scarf. The Democraps were eager to finish his hearing before the Republicans take over. Rangel should be in the deepest, darkest hole the federal penitentiary system has.
Whoop te do.
Too bad this ethics trial won’t happen under the new, GOP-controlled House.
With Queen Nancy in charge, nothing much will happen to this racist SOB.
I’m sure he will be diselected next election, as his constituents will demand a new level of ethical accountability.
He obviously think so, given how concerned he seems to be about this process.
Good!
Now when do we get to see him being frog marched out of the U.S. House of Representatives and into the waiting arms of the U.S. Marshals?
Punishment includes 2 lashes with a wet noodle and a 20% raise in salary.
OMG, he will now get a “strongly worded letter!”
It’s a $10 fine, he can mail it in.
Big deal. They will “reprimand” him and then it will be back to business as usual.
When I got up this morning I just knew it was going to be a good day.
Perhaps they will put him on double secret probation.
Major?
The penalty is a waste of tax dollars for printer ink and secretarial time.
He’ll receive no punishment from the House and will be treated as a hero in his Congressional district.
