For 18 minutes in April, Chinas state-controlled telecommunications company hijacked 15 percent of the worlds Internet traffic, including data from U.S. military, civilian organizations and those of other U.S. allies.
This massive redirection of data has received scant attention in the mainstream media because the mechanics of how the hijacking was carried out and the implications of the incident are difficult for those outside the cybersecurity community to grasp, said a top security expert at McAfee, the worlds largest dedicated Internet security company.
In short, the Chinese could have carried out eavesdropping on unprotected communications including emails and instant messaging manipulated data passing through their country or decrypted messages, Dmitri Alperovitch, vice president of threat research at McAfee said.
Nobody outside of China can say, at least publicly, what happened to the terrabytes of data after it entered China.
The incident may receive more attention when the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a congressional committee, releases its annual report on the bilateral relationship Nov. 17. A commission press release said the 2010 report will address the increasingly sophisticated nature of malicious computer activity associated with China.
Said Alperovitch: This is one of the biggest if not the biggest hijacks we have ever seen. And it could happen again, anywhere and anytime. Its just the way the Internet works, he explained. What happened to the traffic while it was in China? No one knows.

Are they preparing for war or what?
naw...financial war. They can potentially do it down the road without firing a single bullet. Clinton and the Dems have helped the Chicom cause tremendously over the years to get to this point.

hey, a billion Chinese just inherited lost fortunes that were deposited in the First National Bank of Nairobi by a deposed Nigerian general...
There is some VERY strange stuff going on...
A neighbor who works at the one of the labs (can’t tell me which one, could be Sandia Labs, Los Alamos, or one of the Labs-That-Can’t-Be-Named at KAFB) did tell me that there are VERY worrying signs. A country - he wouldn’t say who - has been “showing off” technology that is FAR beyond what we thought they had. Speculation is that they will make us do what they want - adjust our economy, give them technology, whatever - or they will, in his words “send us back to the stone age.” He also alluded to the fact that this has been going on for years and that we are literally at war with this country, but our government is doing its best to hide this reality from the public at large.
So far it has been in our adversary’s best interests to allow us to function as an “independent” country. Dumping $600 billion into the world market has ticked them off and they are “reminding” us who is boss.
We are under their thumb and we don’t even know it.
Just let me keep posting to Facebook, watching Jackass 3D, and drinking cheap beer and don’t bother me international politics...
The wonderful thing about the internet is that it automatically routes around blockages. no matter what happens there will always be the equivalent of “ham radio” communications available.
Just for consideration lets hypothetically say that an adversary has developed an EMP generating device. They have also developed batteries that allow subs to silently travel great distances underwater. Additionally they acquired missile technology that puts them on parity with us.
Let’s also say, hypothetically, that our government, with no real means (or will) to stop them militarily, decides to hurt them financially by devaluing assets they hold.
Wouldn’t it then be understandable, hypothetically, for the adversary to provide a show of force, just to remind us who is really in control? Wouldn’t launching a missile near one of our largest Pacific naval bases be a great way of demonstrating their superiority? Wouldn’t the perfect time to do such a display be when the Commander In Chief is overseas, literally on the other side of the world?
One more hypothetical - what if that missile detonated the EMP device out at sea so it would be detectable by our satellites, but unknown to the general public, except for those stuck on a dead-in-the-water cruise ship?
How would our government respond?
Would they openly admit to the adversary’s capabilities - likely causing a panic and loss of confidence in the US economy - or would they start a dis-information campaign with the hopes that all this would be forgotten in a news cycle or two and anyone who tried to point out the truth would be labeled a kook?
Wonder is they can decrypt Jive?
Don’t need to, dat nobama voter cultcha gave it to’s em and ‘sides it ain’t nothin ‘cept BS, like “where yo is? Oh I bees et wallmarts. Where yo be gurl? I bees et Churches”.
