Have to hand it to ya, you were right, I was wrong. I still believe things will continue to change, maybe take a few elections; hope our Country survives fiscally in the process.

I don't begrudge the Indians over govt spending in the villages. They've lost everything they started with, the problem is from what I see, the social condition in most villages is not improving.

I know quite a few Indians upriver in Canada and they are 1st & 2nd cousins to Indians in our village; night & day difference. Their govt is the difference. Until the USA gives back BLM & park lands to our villages and then couples development to provide real jobs nothing will change for the better. The cycle of alcohol, suicide, child abuse, FAS, has to stop for the future.

I'm also worried about our own Nation's financial situation. I honestly believe a collapse of our financial system is in the cards. Out here, I can always snare rabbit, get a few caribou and a moose, eat salmon and grow a huge garden;;; been doing that for years; ask any of the local Indians here in Eagle. I don't want to see hard times for my kids who are at UAA & UAF down the road. Hope we still have our Country & freedom in another dozen years.

Anyway, good talking,,,, and like I said if you ever get up Eagle; ask where the teacher lives between the old & new villages. You'll see the Miller & Salmon Signs at end of my lane, ha.

Eska,

I totally agree with your politics and I especially appreciate your concerns for the Alaska Native folks. I am probably more conservative then most Joe Miller supporters. Joe Miller was very liberal when he ran in 2008 and lost and now he wants to be know as a conservative. He has lived the life of a liberal constantly taking large government hand outs and gaming the system. I do not believe he is a conservative, I believe he morphs into what ever he thinks he can game. Because I know some of his past and know that he has had problems with telling the truth and has not been a man of his word I just could not bring myself to support the messenger of a message I like. I do believe it is over and Joe had to keep the fight going so he could continue to ask for money so he could pay his bills. He knows the highest court in the land will support voter intent but needed to keep the money rolling in to pay the bills. If he conceded sooner folks would stop send checks just like the yard signs all across Alaska are coming down. I do not think he will use any of his funds to fight a loosing court case, this is over. Well, there must be some fair ice on the river now and stars bright overhead. I do miss the bush and its majestic peace and beauty tk
